Handicap Index - PCC Adjustments
I am pretty sure i have seen an adjustment once or twice this year. I had a day where i shot a 72 or something in terrible conditions. IIRC correctly the round showed as more of a + round than a 72 typically would be.
Ive got two rounds with PCC adjustments this year.
I have 3 rn. Two +, one -
Honestly, I don’t really know what that means or how it’s calculated. Is it based on other scores in the area? That specific course? How many rounds must be recorded before a pcc kicks in?

I have 3 on my current index/last 20 rounds. All negative, meaning the course was playing easier. I’m a little offended.

It’s based on rounds posted on that day, on that course. 8 scores needed on that day.

But here’s the thing about those PCC…. You have to have enough GHIN players post on the same course and day for it to make an adjustment.
Meaning you could play in dreadful conditions…but not get a pcc boost.

I have 2, both at -1. There were some days I thought for sure would be PCC but they weren't.

I probably see more negative than positive - likely because people aren’t as crazy as me to be playing in the adverse conditions.
Two -1 rounds that are in my 8. One +.5 that would’ve been without at extra half.
I have 1 -1 in my current cap from back in August. Looks like I have 4 in about 200 rounds going back all the years in my GHIN app. One of them is a +2 I remember being pretty cold and windy, but the other 3 I don’t remember.

It’s counterintuitive- that +.5 means the course was playing harder. So it makes it more likely that the score would be included in the 8. The +.5 gets deducted from the score differential. Dumb nomenclature.

this was a recent round with @blugold and the first time i've ever seen the max PCC of +3. i didn't play my best golf, but an 85 is well within my range for an away round at a course like that one. the conditions didn't feel that difficult so i was surprised to see this.

I thought the pin placements at The Bull were harder than the conditions at Blackwolf.
way harder, especially with the wind.
i just don't think enough people entered scores on a Monday in late October.
I have about 100 rounds posted in 2025 and only 3 have a PCC adjustment. 2 negative and 1 positive. I find that a bit comical and arbitrary being that I play in Oklahoma with crazy winds often but oh well.

I've had five of them this year - four were +1 and one was +2.
I’ve had two adjustments in my current twenty counted rounds. A +1 from this past weekend and a +1 from a round in the summer.

Looking back on history - happy to see my 2 best all time scores were not adjusted. I would have been pissed if they said the course was playing easy, or that my low anomaly score forced an adjustment to the field that day.
