Happy Bobby Bonilla Day 2020!

When I looked at it another way, if they assumed a $5,900,000 loan in 2001 with 8% yearly interest and started paying on it in 2011, then it would almost be paid off in 2035. That makes more sense, but the numbers still don't add up cleanly.

One of the days that make me laugh every year, wishing you all a Happy Bobby Bonilla day!

These deferred payment contracts in sports always interest me.

The man straight up swindled the Mets and for that...

Despite the underlying reasoning (Madoff) being bad and not working as expected, this was a pretty good deal for the Mets too. They used that money to get to the World Series, and increasing revenues and franchise value the last 20 years has rendered these payments rather small for them.

Loved watching he and Bonds back then. They were definitely the NL team I pulled for because of those 2 guys. Despite all the other stuff, I remain a Bonds fan to this day. Still regard him as the best player I have seen in my lifetime though Trout may eventually take over that spot.
I may be biased as a giants fan but Bonds may be the most dominant athlete I have ever seen. No live sport has been as exciting for me as his record season. We would fight the crowds every game to get a spot on the right field wall. Bonds will always be one of my favorites.

And props to Bonilla lol love that he’s still getting paid decades later.

Ryan Reynolds + Mint Mobile appear to be offering a wild Bobby Bonilla promotion. I absolutely refuse to read any terms and conditions. But the commercial is fantastic!
