Have you ever traveled somewhere specifically for food?

I've got nothing to do Sunday and Monday and I think I'm going to travel up to Chicago because it's been too long since I've had Portillo's

Yes. We go to NYC specially because we crave bar Goto celery.

Also we are in Chicago right now and are going to Portillo tomorrow….

Drove from Dayton to G&R Tavern in Waldo, Ohio, for their famous bologna sandwich. About 90 miles by car.

Hmm… this is a good question. Sadly I’m not sure I’ve ever travelled outside of an hour just for food.

That said, local food always factors heavily into the trip once we are wheels up.

I went from Cincinnati to Fairborn OH for Marion’s pizza but think that trip for me is only around 65 miles.

That‘s a good sandwhich, fwiw

Frank Pepe's pizza in New Haven, CT. It was worth it.

Now I’m hungry.

Does traveling 25 mins to the college campus where I know Skyline is still open count?

I guess Sunday is bad for TPT shaft testing 😉

What is the Portillo order?

Longest trip I can recall specifically for food was a 70 minute drive to Shady Maple Smorgasbord.

Hard to recall, but maybe 45 to an hour each way to go to a specific restaurant for a date night. Driving from Cinci to Chicago for portillos is wild behavior lol.

My wife and I have driven to Birmingham 200ish miles for Italian from Gianmarco’s.

And to New Orleans to hit up Felix’s, Commander’s Palace and a few other places.

four or so hours out of my way last month from Chicago to go to Pietro's in St. Louis for toasted raviolis

When getting my private pilots license, flew up to Owensboro, KY for time and mutton BBQ.

I once knew a guy who drove somewhere for a bunch of Coors beer, just to bring it back to Georgia.

Never traveled for food. But I've planned lots of trips around a restaurant's hours.

It'll be fun. I'll spend the day up there. Maybe play Edgewood Golf course in the city just saw it on a Bryan Bros video for $13 it looks like a lot of fun.

Did he have an awesome mustache and drive a Trans Am?

Ahh, if you make a day of it then yea that's a good time. If you drive, get portillos, and head home...that'd be unhinged. lol

Yeah well I've done that before too.

Most I've done is ~1 hour drive. I know a group that road tripped from Cleveland to San Antonio(?) for BBQ. The trip was a blast, but they said the food was overrated.

What The Hell Wtf GIF

So there’s four portillos in Indianapolis. Would you drive past them to specifically go to Chicago?

NYC and Bangkok would be classified as this for me. I'm pretty sure I spent 70% of my time in Bangkok just eating.
