Concussion and broken collar bone is what I read.As soon as I saw this I thought to myself, that kid will likely never get to play football again. All because of one moment where he lost his cool.
Totally not right and I hope that ref is OK.

Actions have consequences and sometimes the consequences of a person's actions affect others. That's an important lesson to learn. What does kicking the school out of the playoffs do, exactly? What is determined that the coaching staff supported his actions?
I would argue it's sending a message more than teaching a lesson.Actions have consequences and sometimes the consequences of a person's actions affect others. That's an important lesson to learn.

solid take.Unfortunately like someone already said, actions of one affect others. This kid has a history, re past assault on a referee in soccer. The school should have been on top of this kid like white on rice. To further this point the officials should have walked off the field and right to the police station until the kid was dragged into the station that evening. The fact that the game continued after this is even more disturbing. They are lucky that the situation did not devolve into a full on brawl between the teams, fortunately cooler heads prevailed but there is no way as an offical on that crew I am continuing that game. The administration of that school has to own that fact and it should have been ruled a forfeit right then and there.
Saw this earlier this morning on the Texas Tech forum. @BuckNasty is right that he did this in soccer during the 2019-2020 season. There were also two player that did this a 2-3 years ago in San Antonio.
If the team removed itself from the playoffs then that is fine but I don't think they should be kicked out because of this. Not right to punish the other players that have worked hard all year for the actions of one idiot.
Just read about this. The fact that he had done the same thing in the previous soccer season should make take a hard look at this person. Obviously being suspended from that season didn't teach him anything.
Might as well teach them early. You're not teaching the kids who did everything right on the team anything other than the world sucks and there's not much you can do about it.
Good. I was a police officer and was just about to say that rather than ordering players and coaches back to the sideline, I would've locked that kid up right there on the spot. In front of everyone, because its deserved and to send the message to all that criminal behavior will not be tolerated. This just out.
On Friday, Duron, who was escorted from the stadium by police officers, was charged with Class A assault. He is being held in county jail on a $10,000 bond.
