Honma TW767 Hybrid Review

Every day can't be a love affair, and sometimes that love runs hot and cold in the same round. Talking about the TW767 3H here. I'm not sure I could have started off strong with two absolute ropes from the rough and the fairway on a par 5. Don't ask - tee shot disaster. Cooled off a bit after that, but didn't have a time where forward progress wasn't made.

I had two sidehill lies from way out that required the typical setup for a ball above the feet. Both actually came out really well, but low and leftish. Both playable misses from tough lies. I'm not even really sure I can call those shot misses tbh.

One key thing I've enjoyed is that, even with a larger head, these are very playable from the rough for me.

I love you all, but you're all dumb for not paying more attention to this thread.

I just hit so many quality shots with these things I can't believe it. Some bad ones too, but man. I am swinging 3H with outright confidence right now, which is unusual for me in that 19 degree range of any type of club. They are fast and forgiving. Incredible playable. They sound killer and set up so nicely to the golf ball. Just a fantastic golf club that I'm fortunate to have in the bag.

That's not a middle finger by the way lol.

I hit the 3H a whole bunch yesterday, mainly off the tee. 71.4% of fairways hit, with the misses being directly off the short grass. Ball flight trended higher and longer as the day went on, with my absolute best shot on the second to last hole around 210. Great number for me, though obviously I wasn't seeing that on iffy swings. Still, extremely forgiving.

3H continues to be sneaky long. I flew the green into a quartering wind from 185 yesterday, which I did not expect at all. Ball went sky high and the wind pushed it right, but I was honestly expected the ball to be pin high or even short after seeing it hang in the air for 10 seconds.

Maybe not the best club to hit from the rough. I had a long approach from medium rough thanks to a tree issue and definitely struggled to get all of it. Ended up well short of the green, though I was dead in the middle of the fairway.

The TW767 continues to be a club I lean on. Yesterday I was seeing a little more yardage off the tee, meaning I only hit it three times 😂

Just a couple par 5 layups and one tee shot on a shorter par 4. While it felt like the ball was going nowhere when playing in the low 40's and rain at Hidden Creek, the mid 70's temps at home have it traveling more normal distances.

Depending on conditions I'm pulling the 3H as my 200 total club. Slightly elevated tee shot GPS'd at 215 after roll out yesterday, which was about as well as I can hit it. That one was a beautiful high fade. Alternatively, from the turf on a layup on a gently uphill par 5 I saw 195 yards and the ball came off a decent amount lower. Though it flights lower, it's easy to hit from the turf, which is the most important thing for me.

I really should have brought you these fairways @Hawk

I think you’d love them.

I have no doubt I would. The line seems to be made with me in mind.

It is without a doubt, the biggest ALL AROUND surprise lineup this year imo.

Woods, hybrids, irons. All good.

If I could describe the woods in one word - "height"

Then I'd have 7 clubs from 160 to 210 yards. Right @JB 😂
I think its closer to 165-195, but pfft. Everybody needs 7 clubs for 30 yards of gapping.

145-175 at frigid Hidden Creeks lol.

Never know which one has the mojo going at the moment and I like to be prepared.

The Vizard shaft in these hybrids is such a mystery to me. I feel like I don't know very much about it, but it's just so easy to swing. Feels great. I wonder how much that contributes to why I like these hybrids so much.

Do you know if your shaft is relatively light weight? I think most of the Vizards are designed that way.

Looks like it's 60g, so not ultra light. A bit light for sure.

As I was contemplating my bag yesterday, something came to me.

I hit these hybrids far better than the two Elyte hybrids I have in the bag. It came to me that I don't need to force things - why not go with what I have the most success with? So, I put the 767 4H in the bag as well and dropped the two Callaways. Not saying it's a forever thing, but it's a now thing.

Ended up being a good call. I didn't have any "bad" hybrid shots yesterday. Nothing spectacular, but everything was generally on line and hit solid.

@Hawk - I read through this article fully today and watched the instagram. You all are right; it looks so much better in video then in photos. I'm not actually sure where you landed for the event? I can't remember what your hybrid setup ended up being, and I'm mad at myself if I didn't give your Honma TW767 a rip if you had it in your bag and I just missed it?

I also think this is an insanely good chart that I wish we'd see from other companies who have stock shaft offerings. Like I love it, it's easy to follow and just makes sense, instead of here's your stock shafts and some numbers...

I've never owned any Honma, but this is a solid damn article Hawk! Plus...moles are awesome.

Appreciate it!

I had three of these in my bag for ShaftUp #1 - the 3, 4, and 5. Probably overkill, but the post above yours gives some clarification as to how I ended up there.

As with any club, I hit some meh shots, but I hit waaaay many more good or good enough shots with them, including one to 10 feet on one of the par3's.

Dang it. I'm sad I missed those. Would've loved to try a Homna. I've never hit one or even seen one in the wild honestly.
