Seems like a pretty easy question. How do you guys clean your rangefinder lens ?

I’ve heard of the silky type cloth for eye glasses, damp microfiber etc.

How do you do it and how do you get into the small area ?

I'm usually just a microfiber cloth. If I need to, I will hit give that cloth a quick spray of the stuff I use on my regular glasses.

Hmm - I've had mine 8 years and have never cleaned it once. Maybe I should!

Single use glasses cleaner.

I use a microfiber cloth for my binoculars, would be the same thing.

I have just recently started using a rangefinder and haven't had to clean it but I would have just assumed the same cloth I use to clean my glasses

On the rare occasion I have cleaned it, I used a microfiber cloth. Same type I use to clean TV and laptop screens.

So the reason for starting this thread...

I bought a Precision Pro NX9 with slope end of last year. Liked the unit but then after a few rounds, I would be mid round and shoot a pin and it wouldn't read anything. I would take the battery out put it back in and it would seem to read again. But I would have to do this like 4-5 times a rd so I sent it back for a refund thinking I had a defective unit. who knows maybe I did.

I then bought a Nikon Coolshot 50i. Same deal. Worked great then after a few rds started to not read targets. Started the whole process of taking the battery out and putting it back in which would seem to fix it. Problem just kept getting worse by the rd.

I started looking at the warranty info thinking I was going to send it back for replacement or repair, but happened to check the owners manual and it said if it doesn't read targets to clean the lenses.

I thought since I could see targets clearly that the lens was pretty clean. Guess not.

Today I took the silky bag that came with my new Tifosi golf sunglasses and used it to clean the 3 lenses on the Nikon. Worked as good as when I first opened the package.
So my guess is the NX9 I sent back was fine, it was just dirty optics.
Speaking of which, that has a ring to it. I might change my screen name on here to "Dirty Optics" :p

Hmmm. I don't think I've ever cleaned the lens in front of the laser. I clean the viewfinder lens regularly, with a microfiber cloth.

Add another for single use glasses cleaner.

I buy the 200 count box of Zeiss wipes from the A->Z store.

Zeiss Eyeglass cloth and the cleaning solution ( 4.99) . If its good enough for my Maui Jims and Nikon camera lens & laptop its good enough for my rangefinders. Plus for on the go, a few packets of Zeiss cleaning wipes ( 200 ct $14.00) all on Amazon.

Lens pen. Look it up on Amazon. Good enough for photographic equipment.

I usually use a microfiber glasses cloth with a special lens cleaner.

Single use lens wipes. Open the package and there is a fresh, clean wipe. Microfibers will hold onto any tiny grit they are exposed to like sand grains, dirt, lint etc. I don't want to wipe my expensive lenses with abrasives, putting more and more micro-scratches on them over time.

With the corner of my shirt usually.

Microfiber glasses cloths. I keep one in the RF case

Mine came with a little microfiber cloth that I keep in the rangefinder pouch and use when needed.

breath, then shirt..

Must be some polluted air u play in to get that much dirt
