How many cars have you had in how many years?

22 years - 5 vehicles total.
Dodge Sundance (used) - brother rolled it and wrote it off.
Plymouth Reliant K (used) - brother had it light on fire while he was letting it warm up one morning.
Nissan Stanza 1988 (bought used) - I was a bit slack on oil changes..... and may have blown up the engine lol
Kia Rio (bought new 2002) - sold it when I bought the Elantra. Owned it 10 years. 1 transmission blew out of it, but was luckily still on warranty.
Hyundai Elantra Touring GL(bought new 2012)

5 Vehicles, and not a single one that I truly wanted to own except for the Elantra (and that was because it was the lone hatch that would fit golf flubs straight across in the hatch).

The next one? MINIVAN!!!! Cannot wait!

Reading through this, I'm wondering what made you stray from the American made buying the Subaru ;)

Licensed 48 years. Owned 20 cars, four in the last thirteen. Would have been three, except for a driver who totaled one of them by pulling out right in front of me. The common thread among those four is the manufacturer. I estimate 1.75 million miles accumulated by all drivers. In chronological order:

1966 Rambler Classic
1977 Plymouth Arrow GT
1980 Chevrolet Citation
1971 VW Squareback
1982 Ford Escort Wagon
1966 Plymouth Valiant
1971 Plymouth Duster
1984 Ford LTD Wagon
1973 Pontiac Bonneville
1984 Chevrolet Caprice Wagon
1991 Ford Taurus Wagon
1994 Honda Accord
1991 Volvo 940 Turbo Wagon
2001 Honda Accord
2001 Ford Explorer
1999 Honda Accord
2007 Honda Accord
2004 Honda Accord

Unfortunately my wife's junk Traverse had me start looking at something a little different. I think the biggest thing was decent gas mileage since I travel a lot for work and all of the feedback I read and got from others was they were great vehicles. Unfortunately for us it's already been in the shop once for an issue with low oil :banghead:.

Hey, this is a fun useless exercise but brings back some great (and not so great memories).
Licensed for 59 years.
Parents' cars:
'49 Chev 2 door
'51 Nash Ambassador (They sold it just before I got my license - the front seats folded down flat into a bed - I think they thought it was too great a date car)
'53 Buick Special (I wrecked it)
'57 Desoto 2-door hardtop (real chick magnet, dad wrecked it, damn)
My cars:
'59 Triumph TR3 (girl friend's dad owned a shop, put 17 coats of British racing green lacquer on it, then girlfriend dumped me - both big wins)
'55 Buick Roadmaster 4 door hardtop, landyacht with exterior speakers for the beach
'65 Ford Galaxie 500, 2 door hardtop, 390, twin 4 barrel carbs, 4-speed on the floor, took it over 100 mph in third gear (one time)
'67 Ford Cortina (polar opposite of the Galaxie 500)
'69 Fiat 850 Spyder (married into it, 3 engines in 48,000 miles)
late '60's Jeep Commando (most dangerous car ever built, damn near killed us a couple times, traded in on first Subaru)
'74 Subaru
'76 Subaru
'78 Subaru (Jeep and three Subaru 4wd because we lived in a ski area and commuted 45 miles to/from work daily - sold the Subs at 60K to 80K miles, never had a repair)
'78 Fiat 124 Spyder
'82 Peugeot 505 Turbo Diesel (wife's birthday present, drove over 250,000 miles, most comfortable seats ever)
'74 Ford F150 pickup (used, my birthday present from wife, had dog - needed pickup, piece of junk, lasted six months, traded in on F250)
'87 Ford F250 4wd pickup (dog wanted new ride, worst vehicle we've ever owned, kept breaking down, traded in on Explorer at less than 10,000 miles)
'91 Ford Explorer (termed The Exploder, everything broke, still own it, 173,000 miles, 4 new tires, will sell tires for $800 and thrown in the car)
'75 Chev 1/2 ton pickup (dog-approved, bought from a friend who is the best mechanic in the world)
'91 Chev Silverado 1500 pickup (bought from same friend, still own it, 144,000 miles)
'98 Subaru Forester (still own it, 143,000 miles)
'15 VW Touareg (V6 gasser, great car so far)

NOTE: We basically quit buying cars after 1997 because we lived on a 65 acre island where all transportation was by golf car or on foot, so cars were useless - but we owned 7 boats at one point. Bought my wife the Touareg when we moved to the "big island" of San Juan, (26 sq miles, pop 5500, max speed limit 45). We only drive about 7,000 miles a year total on all vehicles. Still own 5 boats, including a 1976 Pacific Trawler 37 we bought in 1982, which we took from Friday Harbor to Southeast Alaska and back last summer, (2,250 nm).

Hard lesson, not yet learned: if it floats or flies, lease don't buy.

I've owned cars for more than fifty years, too; this exercise is a little too much work for me. Kudos, Hecaviator.

I will say this: I switched from Lincolns to Jeep Grand Cherokees three cars ago.
They're not bad,
but I hate the head restraints that don't let me wear my fedoras in the car.
