my first post! besides pw, i play a 52 and 56, making 3. i don't see the need for a 60. even with the 52, i can open that sucker up to pop it up over a greenside bunker (would use a 56, but just sayin'). leaves more room in the bag for driving iron, even a left-handed emergency wedge for those emergency situations (although you can flip over a wedge and hit it off the toe if you really need to). but my guess is most people would go with some kind of hybrid to replace it with.
56 only....and from 130 to 100...the PW. Using few wedges allows for consistency in the long run. Didn't Hogan call the PW the "Equalizer" or "E" because he believed it was best to use one club for all short shots?
That is an interesting comment, a thoroughly modern setup in 1986. I played all of my junior golf in the late 80's + early 90's, and I think only 1, maybe 2 at most on our golf team carried a LW, most of us played just two wedges PW + SW. I don't recall AW (50ish) even being a thing in those times!
