How much of a daredevil are you?

I'm not that old, and I've backed off my thrills over the last 10 years or so. I did the list of crazy things....100+ on a bike, almost 160 in my Corvette and some legal (+ a little illegal) road racing, ziplines, cored free falls. Sure.

A roller coaster at 150, I'd still do that.

Perhaps a bit of a daredevil.....with a healthy dose of self preservation mixed in.
I've been a drag racer all my life, and began that with street racing back in the late 70s. The latest ride, is a '65 VW Karmann Ghia, with a fuel injected, turbocharged, methanol burning engine (still VW) that makes nearly 500hp, and I've been 143mph on the track with it. So, not a big deal speed wise as compared to a lot of sporty cars in production these days. But in a vintage VW, and it's a bit hairy at speed.
I've raced bicycles, both on and off road. Racing in a tight pack of 50 or 60 riders at 30mph through city streets....not for the faint of heart. Off road, trying to negotiate "baby head" sized rocks on a steep downhill, without doing a big faceplant (on aforementioned baby head sized rocks).... that too will get your heart going.
That's pretty much it. I have two road going motorcycles. Friends and family thinks I'm takin' my life in my hands riding those. But, people take their lives in their hands every day just stepping off a curb, or driving to the store. So I don't see that as any more risky. Just gots to keep your head on a swivel riding through town.

I went to a grocery store yesterday and took off the mask for a moment for a sip of water.

I never thought of it as being a daredevil, but have always enjoyed action sports, so maybe a bit of an adrenaline junkie. I grew up surfing, have ridden and raced dirt bikes, really enjoyed whitewater kayaking, snow skiing and boarding, among some other things. I never felt I went to the extremes at any of those activities, although when my wife saw pictures of some of the places I rode dirt bikes she upped my life insurance. As I've gotten older I don't do some of these things anymore, but some I still do, and always will.

As far as roller coasters and that kind of thing, they can be fun, but its just a ride, so I don't get any big thrill from them.

Hell to the Yeah! I've always loved them .. I just don't like waiting in the long damn lines to go for 3 minutes.

I like going to Ohio to Cedar Point to ride this ... Top Thrill Dragster ... wait in line for hours for a 17 second ride that goes 120 mph

I want to do some skydiving but Mrs. Nut won't allow it. Well she said I could, but she won't watch as I go splat. What a way to go, huh?
My great uncle was in the Airborne & I've always wanted to since hearing stories about him before he was MIA in WWII.
I'm pushing for it for my birthday this year when I turn the Big Half Century. :ROFLMAO:

I lost my taste for daredevil stuff after almost dumping my friend and I off a cliff while driving on twisty mountain roads several decades ago. I misjudged a corner, entered it way too fast, went out into the oncoming lane, and would have kept going over the cliff if it wasn’t for a small concrete berm that seemed to be perfectly placed to save dumb asses like me. It was just enough help to keep me on the road, and let me get control of the car back.

I’ve still done things some people might consider “daredevil“ acts since, but the danger level I felt comfortable with dropped significantly enough that I didn’t consider myself daring at all.

I'd say more of an adrenaline enthusiast than a daredevil. I've done my share of stupid $#!T, sky diving, cliff diving, rock climbing, which is weird because I am not a fan of heights. But I generally avoid the things that could legit kill me (save the aforementioned). I grew up skateboarding, snowboarding, surfing and wakeboarded at a level that included a dozen different flips. I'm nearly 40 so have backed off some of those things, but can still flip my wakeboard and ride a mountain bike rather quickly on some pretty rough terrain. I just don't push myself like I used to. As for the roller coaster, hard YES!

If they have a "Flash Pass" similar to the 6 Flags program, take it. Not the Top most expensive-ist one, or the cheapest. The middle level. It is TOTALLY worth the price of never really waiting on lines. You punch in the coaster you want- preferably the one furthest away, and within 10-15 minutes, you get the okay to go. Generally go in the exit and right to the front or very close. While waiting THERE, punch in the next one you want. And by the time you get off, you can wander over to that one and it will give you the okay while on the way. When you have waits of up to TWO HOURS for a big ride like El Toro, AND you are escorting 2 kids aged 12 and 9, who start whining within 30 seconds about how long the wait is, it is a feather in your "Uncle" cap when you walk right to the front of the line. PLUS- you aren't listening to all the OTHER 12 year olds whining about how long the wait is! You can hit all 10 or 11 in a couple of hours, instead of waiting on line for 6 hours just to ride 3. It also gives a chance to take it easy and maybe hit a smaller ride (like the awesome Tilt-A-Whirl) that doesn't have long waits, or maybe one of the shows, etc...
Even better when you can get a AAA discount entry price and then spring for the VIP parking right near the entrance.

Back in my 20s I did some crazy stuff, including sky diving, but there is no chance ever that I would do that now. I can't handle driving on winding roads without getting sick. We tried to go on the rockin' roller coaster at universal about 5 years ago and when we were being shot out of the tunnel I thought I was going to die.

I drove around France for a month, looking over cliffs with crosses at sharp turns while driving to perched villages. "Hey, is this the turn where Princess Grace died?"

Gulp.

I've been on the current tallest coaster record holder many times (Kingda Ka at Six Flags, grew up in that town and worked there for 2 years). I would definitely go on the coaster that is set to break the speed record if given the chance.

Most thrilling thing I have done is gone sky-diving (twice).

In the literal sense, I don't do things because someone dares me.

Having said that...
For years I was an open wheel race car driver.
Made my own fireworks as a kid.
Loved to cliff dive.
Walked the steel girders of an under construction building.
Isn't the point of snow skiing to go as fast as you possibly can?
Love white water rafting.
Loved roller coasters when they used to be steel buckets on wood platforms and the only thing holding you in was your grip on a steel bar. Am bored by the roller coasters of today...though that 155 MPH one you mentioned sounds like fun.

I had a 97 Trans Am Ram Air souped up to about 500hp.

I’m lucky to be alive. I only redlined it once in 6th gear, dead flat, dead straight, EMPTY state route (and I’m well beyond the statute of limitations). I think I was close to 200, within 5 either way. I remember thinking “ok DA, now what, you can’t hit the brakes, you can’t downshift, how you getting out alive?”

Thank god I had good sight lines, and once I registered (pegged 155) I could brake and downshift to slow it down quickly and effectively.

200 is pretty freaky though. You just kind of float and pray.

More recently, I bought a tank SUV 4x4 a week after our last mini blizzard in late winter 18/19. Ohio folk can thank me for the lack of snow last winter.

I thought the damn old thing would croak before I saw real snow. I was wrong. This sucker is built on the Hummer frame and it will not get stuck. It might take a couple punches to get through but stuck? Nah.

So of course with this weeks snow I had to take it out and play.

It handles well. I had fun. AWD is the best of both worlds. Kicks in when needed but otherwise is RWD. Countersteer with assist. Takes a bit for an ol’ country boy to get used to the assist, so it’s only about 25% countersteer.

I will point out that the sliding tracks may or may not have been me and that the street sign that looked to be in jeopardy from someone’s ass end was far safer than would appear. It was butt a gentle kiss. E13E9509-F9EC-49D6-B239-4B70FEF474E3.jpegF2D79721-2604-4255-95AB-EC0E8EE343AF.jpeg

Might included one where I thought I was filming the snow and had it in selfie mode or something. That’s excitement on my face for those that play poker. And yes I still have a cracked dome. My Neanderthal Ridge isn’t usually that puffy. I had to give up snowball fights (thank god, my two oldest can both chuck a baseball 80+ I may crack 50-and my spine trying) this winter.

Shucks.

No thanks. Driving up and down Pike's Peak was enough for me 🤣

I have done some crazy things and I would ride that no problem!

What are some crazy things you've done?

Would you ride a 155 mph roller coaster?

Yes I would ride that coaster! The older I get the less adventurous I get. Maybe its a fear of breaking something and missing golf season!!!

Im a daredevil but only with vehicles that Im in control of. I dont like not feeling like I have some level of control. Ive gone over 120 mph on a snowmobile many times, over 100 mph on a motorcycle and when I raced motocross, blitzing the whoops and doing triple jumps that were over 70 feet were no big deal.
I was always in control of those machines though (or at least, mostly in control) but roller costers are a very different thing and I do not enjoy them. I can do it if I have to but I dont enjoy it.

Nope.

Never been one for the thrill seeking/extreme sports activities in life.

You live in the land of bear and moose, that can be enough.

I would strap into a roller coaster but I wouldn’t have the guts to jump out of an airplane.

Yes I'm a thrill seeker. I have ridden every thrill Ride at cedar point, Kings island, Disney world, the big swing in Kissimmee Florida. I have bungee jumped, did the reverse bungee where they shoot you up, I've been skydiving and hit the limiter on my motorcycle at 147 mph.

Haha I suppose it’s all relative eh? Grizzlies, moose, cougars, wolverines, 40 below weather... Wouldn’t change a thing though.

YES, that is a real thing!

Second time I ever rose a motorcycle was when I was 17 and proceeded to do 150 mph on it on a highway. The next day I crashed a rented dirt bike and broke my collar bone. I have never been back on a two wheeled motorized vehicle.

I never bought a crotch rocket bike because every time I rode one I was over 100 mph. It’s just too easy and too much fun. I had a killer deal lined up on a Honda Interceptor, and I talked myself out of it because I knew I’d be an organ donor pretty quickly if I was riding that thing every day.
