Sure feels like it could be substantial, at least based on what I see at my local course.

If used correctly this would be a game changer.

More than likely, everyone would drive to the first ball and wait, then the second ball and wait, and so on for a very nice 3:45 round

I would say quite a bit, but also with my groups we'd all still be driving around one area looking for a ball in the trees.

Could be a huge unlock, but you are still relying on the average golfer doing the right thing and going to their ball directly (vs watch their buddies hit nearby).

Absolutely feels like that would speed up play. Except on CPO days. Could make an argument it would be more harmful to the course as its double the vehicles.

Would have to make some difference, how much would depend mostly on how efficiently (or not) the same golfers use 2 seaters.

It should be able to speed it up substantially. But it would only be a small amount. Because people still wouldn't be ready.

I think some, but for people who are just slow in whatever pre shot routine, not playing. Ready golf, wtc, it may not help much.

Marginal they will still wait for the other guy to hit and then start to think about what shot they should hit. I would also guess they will spend more time looking for nasty ob shots since you know they are by themselves.

I want to say considerably, but I've also soon foursomes that are all walkers, travel as a pack to each others ball. But even then it would speed up things slightly. I don't see a way it doesn't make things faster.

Yeah, that's a pretty cool one.
It would speed up pqce of play as long as everyone is willing to drive to their ball and be ready to hit.

It would speed up play by zero minutes.

Slow is slow because slow plays slow.

I'm convinced there is no magic bullet.

Go back to COVID times when we were all given a single cart. It would speed up play for sure because everyone just goes to their ball. All 4 may go to one spot to look for a ball but then they could all just go straight to their ball. I would say it would drop 30 min a round. Shocking I know.

Almost none in reality. I'm sure people would just drive 4 carts to the place where they currently drive 2 carts and wait.

I wish I wasn't jaded in this respect.
It sped up play during covid when everybody had their own cart.

But it did speed up play during covid.

Oh man - in a perfect world it should speed up play... in reality I think in my midafternoon rounds at the muni I am willing to bet i see 4 carts zooming around the tree lined fairways or worse yet, parked with 4 people walking...

I still think i play fastest with 4 guys walking, so there is viability in individual carts. Huge cost to golf courses though, so likely a private club could have a few of these.

likely increases sales of H50s, rangefinders and speakers as everyone needs their own. no more relying on your buddy

But it did speed up play during covid.
Then I stand corrected.

It now makes me wonder how much more a course would have to charge to make single carts viable, and if I would be willing to pay that increase to get under 4 hr rounds.

I believe you - if it did then I'll say it would speed it up the same amount. Do you know how much sped it up?

I've just watched too many people stand around the whole time where giving them a single cart isn't the solution to their problem. It's just not being ready to golf when it's time to golf. We all do it, it's just that some do it way more than others.

I spoke to one recently that said it would depend on the setup at a course.
The lease cost is not outrageously more expensive to adopt single riders.
The real estate of the "cart barn" might be a challenge however.

Completely course dependent.
Our private club in Nashville was around 30 minutes faster per round, if not more.

I think at most locations, it would be minimal..

I wonder what people think is, or would be the biggest increase of pace of play - well time for a new thread.

Could definitely. But judging by how people walking still for whatever reason walk together to each others golf balls it wouldn't be as much as it should.
