How Much Would it Speed Up Play?

I think it would speed up play with the right groups and could be a lot if fun. Depending on where balls are and if you have the option to go right to your ball or even if you have to wait to go to your ball immediately after someone else's shot it will speed up play and not interfere with enjoying the game. Either way for me i think it would be a lot of fun. It would be great and i hope at some point it happens at our club

It might speed us up a bit, but we are never slow and usually right behind they guys ahead. Worst thing about it, I love the conversation when carting with whoever...

If people used them and went directly to their ball? A lot, but these brainless folks in Charlotte would just ride next to each other and basically not give any benefit.

Patagucci vests and stupid buzz word a$$holes.

I say much faster since you don't have to wait around for your partner to finish to go to your ball. I typically will grab 4-5 clubs and my range finder and walk to my ball instead of waiting. Plus it just looks like a lot of fun.

Like I said on the socials, I think at least 30 mins a round.

Exactly the time I was thinking. Not hours, but 30 minutes is a decent chunk of time.

the one group that goes out early thats only there to drink and play once a month, wold slow down any progress others would have made up. Used right, i believe 20 minutes maybe over the 18 holes

Single rider carts don't speed up play in my experience. The majority of riders are single riders at my local muni and its as slow as Christmas.

I was just thinking of how much faster it was during Covid and set the number.

I'd love to see single rider carts on every golf course. But ... this will still not help with ready golf.
It might slow us. No self policing the drunkest in each cart get relegated to seat bunny.

it would speed it up more than people think. Used to play in a group at Fox Meadows of 0-15hdcps every saturday and sunday morning. Nearly every single player had their own personal cart. The ones who didnt were still in a cart by themselves.

First off of the day and we all played and finished 18holes inside of 3hrs max 3:30.

It would probably knock off 20-30 minutes for 18 holes.

During summer... we often walk 9 after work and everyone is either carrying or has a push cart (love my Nitron). This always feels faster as we can all go right to our balls. Not only is this cart cool AF.. it should speed it up just by being fast paced than walking.

Ah, forgot about Covid rules. Yeah, that was nice, except there were a few times my course ran out of carts.

Once my my courses rents out Motocaddy carts for $10. I do that every chance I get. It is very cool, and I get my steps in.

Oh man... that is cool. Def for $10

I can really see people going out in these and then driving to other peoples balls to watch them hit vs actually going to the ball again.

Like others have said, it would be course dependent as well as relying on people to not be dumb. I could see people going directly to their ball but still not playing ready golf. Overall I think it would speed up play but not sure by how much.

I think it would speed up play. My question is how much would this cost us? the course would need more carts, that need to be cleaned and serviced.

Cool concept and execution but I’m not convinced people would magically care about pace of place all the sudden.

On a full course that is always full and slow?
None...zero...not at all...not a second less.
Problem slow golf is about one main thing....problem slow players.
you can change the carts, the tees (which is ridiculous), trim trees, move bunkers, cut rough, turn all wooded areas into red stakes, clean underbrush under trees, make dogleg corners easier to cut across, etc,etc....alll the things that many courses have done all in the name of problem slow rounds. And guess what? The slow full courses are still slow.
It doesnt matter.
Only one thing can speed up problem slow play and that is only if the players causing it change how they go about their problem slow golf and simply move along fast enough so they are no longer a problem.
And besides a whole lot of slow happens on and a round greens anyway and the carts have nothing to do with that.

So answer is zero....nothing.

JB's right, imo, just as during Covid, it would absolutely speed up play.

In my regular group, 3 of the guys own and use their private carts. My terrible back doesn't mesh well with any of their seats (even with my portable lumbar support), and I pay for the cart plan anyway. So, as ridiculous as it is, we go out with 4 carts as a matter of routine.

We absolutely fly around the course. All go directly to their own ball. While we'll generally allow for the farthest away to hit first, when he's not ready, others won't hesitate to hit.

If the entire course had a solo cart and generally practiced our habits, the average time for rounds would reduce considerably. But, as it is, we're slave to the speed of the group in front of us.
