How Much Would it Speed Up Play?

I would say anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes. I still think you'll get a fair amount of slow players, but even with those it would be slightly faster.

Definitely more enjoyable for Rider. Still feel many will ride together to 1st Ball, then after hitting onto next, rinse and repeat. We have many extra Carts at my Course so many have their own Cart to ride. This what I see every other Round. Just blows my mind.

My club allows for personal carts. Most of us have them. Based on our pace of play when we don’t get slowed by groups in front that have do have double occupants in cart there is a size able difference in round time. Foursome in four carts can easily play in 3 hours. Ow that can be extended by certain players who have no clue what ready golf is. Now you put a couple groups out in doubled up carts it easily adds an hour to pace of play.

I think it would speed it up some, but then there are still people who would just ride next to their buddies to the one ball, then go to their own, then the 3rd etc, essentially negating being solo

I don't think it would make much of a difference at my course. The slow people would still be slow, and the fast guys already get around in 2.5 to 3 hours as foursomes.

But it did speed up play during covid.
Other factors?
Not sure about all but at my munis tee times were I think 20 minutes apart. And that does mask/cover up a good amount of slower play. Plus no one at all could pull a single pin (and imo that part plays a bit more a role than people think it does for the average group speediness). And also people in general were a bit more aware of not closely socializing like on tees and greens and even in fairways, so walkers too also more often just went to their own ball a bit more often, and many tended to putt out quicker and even to a degree didnt play the game as seriously but were just glad to be out there. I just think there were too many other factors that potentially weighed in.
But I can see on a course where its 100% all must ride carts where single carts would have the potential to increase pace becaue it can help eliminate some the negatives associated with 2some carts not being operated efficiently.

I’ve seen a course use the single rider motorcycle carts and by far the groups that used them were quicker then the regular two person carts

I disagree. Most people at my club have their own cart so a lot of groups will have 4 carts in a group. You can absolutely tell the difference in a 2 person cart. They are pretty much always the last to the green by a fair margin. The last two round ls I played I was the 2nd rider and even with having my clubs ready or walking to my ball we were still behind. It’s not going to be a huge difference but 2 carts of 2 vs 4 carts of 1 would probably be a 15-20 minute difference if all other things were equal.
I guess I could see the reasoning for a bit of a difference especially on a course where all 100% are in carts.
Imo golf carts only make rounds faster vs walkers if the cart people operate it efficiently. But many (in fact id say majority at my public courses) dont and walking 4somes can and do often enough play as fast or faster. The biggest difference is unless its a course with loooong distances between holes. As a walker myself (and playing most as a single paired with whoever) I am very often (extremely often) as a walker the first one on the next tee when Im paired with 3 others riding carts. Then you also have the (no cart) line usually about 50 or so yards away from every green not to mention par 3 path only holes. And walkers actually are faster once in those areas of play. And especially when the riders balls are not on the cart path side on the 3s or any the holes once around that 50 yrds or so out.

Can tell how many times as a walker Ill be up and ready at my ball (bout off tp the side of course) and waiting on the cart 2some in my group actually behind me because they never bothered to split up. We dont really have big pace issues but just to make the point here how inefficient cart usage can make things problematic even to the point of walkers being faster. And even though I said pace isnt too bad here , if you listened to people you would think they are playing a 5 hr round every time they play and never close to being anywhere near the reality.

Covid had more going on than just single person carts. No rakes, 15 minute tee time intervals, generously applied putting rules. Being social was lower on the list than playing golf. I don’t see that anymore so I don’t see a big change in PoP happening. Or I could just live by a bunch of self important people who happen to congregate on golf courses and near me.
