Every once in a while, I come across posts asking how to go from taper tip to parallel tip. Many people are unsure of the process, yet it is extremely easy to do in your own home. I figured since I was reaming another set, I'd show fellow enthusiasts an example of reaming a head.

All you will need is a .370 reamer and t-handle available from Golfworks. I use wd-40 as a lubricant, and while many may say use a true cutting oil, remember that you're not removing a lot of material.

It takes about a minute per head, once you're confident in your method. Enjoy.

FAQ:

- Will it change the headweight?
No. The amount removed is insignificant.

- What if I want to go back to taper tip (.355)?
A shim is very commonly used to fit a .355 tip into a .370 head.

- Can I mess this up?
No. The reamer is self-centering.

- Do I need to hire a professional?
No. You can do it. If you can turn a screw driver, you can turn a reamer.

- Do I need a special jig or equipment?
No. Just a reamer, t-handle, and some lube.

- Can I use a power drill or press?
No. These type of reamers are meant to be used at under 200rpm. If you use a power tool, you will harden the metal in the hosel and dull the reamer immediately.

- Does it matter if the club is cast or forged?
No. Reamer will cut both.
