Indoor Simulators

That was actually one of my first thoughts because you have to drive 30+ minutes to get to a simulator business where i am from and i thought it would be awesome to put one where i want to build my house right off a "main" highway but it would probably not get the business to be worth it for me. so i switched to just getting a personal one.
i'd definitely be my best customer, but just with a handful of visitors recruited from the local course that thing would probably pay for itself

Yea in my head it would've worked out, when i asked my family members that are successful business people they said probably not worth it.

I have a SkyTrak with an impact screen. All in I’m around $6k. But I’m going to go with the new Full Swing Kit as soon as it comes out since it has club data. That will be around $4k more but I can sell my SkyTrak for roughly what I paid for it.

What simulator software are you currently using, if any? What SIM software is available for Full Swing?

Yea, it seems easy in your head, but then there's rent, liability insurance, utilities, staff. It all works when there are golfers, but the bills keep going even when the golfers stop coming.

Just a few weeks ago a friend of mine brought up how business and real estate seem to be domains still largely dominated by people growing up in them rather than picking up the skills later in life on their own terms.
I'll investigate insurance and what additional facilities might be required in order to host guests instead of just using a facility myself. Rent and basic utilities (well, electricity?!) i will obviously require for my own use.

I’m currently using TGC 2019. Full Swing uses E6

Can I get some room dimensions? A couple retailers are telling me I don’t have enough room for a projector. Here’s my layout now. Ceiling is about 13’ at 6’ from the screen.

Not the best setup but workable would be a protected floor mounted projector. The problem is your overhang and only having a screen height of 8 feet. The overhang will block the top of the screen . A projector offset to the side of the ball path would work. Just hate the idea of a shank hitting the projector cover, but this setup works for a lot of people.

I recently went with skytrak and a spornia net in the garage. It runs off an iPad, cheap projector and hit off a fiberbuilt mat. Easily sets up and breaks down so it can still be used as a garage. Definitely nice to have!
robd. - can you share some pictures of how you set up and break down your garage simulator? I am in the same position where I absolutely can not give up my garage full time for the sim, but wouldn't mind setting up each time. But its the biggest spot in my house that can house a simulator set up. Wondering how you are able to manage the screen and the side pieces for shanks.

GCQuad if you are a .com billionaire, SkyTrak is what I went with :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Bought our house a little less than a year ago which came with a shed in the backyard. My most recent project was converting it into a golf shed. SkyTrak but no simulator software yet. 100% worth the effort and money. Here’s the before and after. FF7C4032-239C-4449-9B30-E7CEC27E4343.jpegFB690801-21F6-440E-8759-E85DDCBF27A0.jpeg

Check out golfsimulatorforum.com. I promise there is an answer to every question you have on there somewhere. And plenty of inspiration.

Good call! Thanks for the lead. Just registered.

here you go! The spornia folds up like a clam so I just remove the poles and lean it up against the wall to park both cars in the garage. Mat I do the same and lean it against the wall and use bungee cords so it doesn’t fall.

I don't use a projector either. I use the app on my phone for the SkyTrak and airplay my phone to the TV in front of me using an Apple TV if I want to see the data on a larger screen. I often times just watch TV while I hit and check my shot shape/numbers on my phone. Works perfectly fine.

I am really hoping the R10 and other type of launch devices will bring some prices down for us budget minded guys. I think more affordable is just around the corner. Currently I have a net and launch monitor in my shop that works really well, but really want to upgrade to something like a Skytrak where I can see more of ball direction.

The net practice has improved my game enormously, but I am limited to where the ball is actually heading. I will be watching closely. There are some great setups in this thread. ;)

Looking forward to receiving my R10. Unfortunately most of my practice time will be outdoors as my garage and basement are not tall enough. Still trying to convince the wife that I could take a kids bedroom but even that might be too short for driver at 9ft.

Really want to improve my golf game and hopefully this will help

Picked up a Skytrak last winter during the lockdown. Found a guy selling his whole setup on GolfSimulatorForum.com.
Here's a recent pic of mine - I had just moved it from another area of my garage. Skytrak is put away in this pic but you get the idea.

Here you can see the SkyTrak.

We've designed houses with simulators in them, and they all have gone with the simulator in the basement, with the slab lowered a couple of feet to get the ceiling height needed for it to work. Seems to be the most cost effective way if you are starting from scratch.
Is that easy to do? Dig down deeper in the basement? I wanted my builder to dig the basement deeper and they said they couldn't go more than 9 feet. I didn't even think about digging deeper after the basement was done. Is that really feasible?

I wish I thought of it at the time. But with the two story addition, the farmers prick and mud room there was so much going on. Oh well next time

As we like to say, anything is possible with enough money.

Residential code usually limits basements to around 10 feet without doing any real engineering, so that could be what was stopping them, but yes, you can go deeper. You can do just a portion of the basement deeper to save and have a step down to the lower portion.

We just designed a house with a simulator in the basement, and a portion of the slab in that room 2 feet lower for one of those smart putting greens. I think the owner is a member of my club, so I have to try to meet him...
