Is There A Ball You WILL NOT Play?

I have gotten to where I only play one ball for consistency sake. Never a rock flite though. Been playing -prov1x for 2 years or so.

Taylor Made anything, ball, club, all of it....
no way do not want GIF by CBC

A couple classifications here...

I refuse to play balls like Kirkland out of spite.
I won't play a Top Flite or something of that tier because I don't consider it a good golf ball.
Not my preference to play a TaylorMade based on my experience in the past with their balls.

Then again, I don't play a ton of used balls and have a relatively narrow focus when buying. Usually I share whatever I find with the group, or my wife or Son. If I find a ProV1 or Chrome Soft/Tour in the wild that looks like it has been hit once or twice, I'll leave it in the bag for bad days/water shots, but it's rare that I am cycling through found balls when I am trying to play my best.

I played Snell for a few years but I don’t like their newer ball after the supply chain crisis during covid. It’s unlikely going forward that I’ll play anything but a Bridgestone, Callaway, Srixon, or to a lesser degree, Taylormade. I prefer to not play what seemingly 65% of what my regular golf buddies are playing which is why I haven’t played Titleist for 15+ years.

Vice pro plus. Hate em, the pro isn't terrible to me though which is weird

I think THP knows the style of ball I will not play...lol!

No, nothing I would refuse to play. There are plenty that I do not play, but the reality is that I can only play so many balls at one time (one).

I've had the best luck with Callaway and Srixon balls in my experience, but nothing is off the table outright.

I will not play a used ball, ever. All it took was one ball to fly like a range ball and I was done. As for brands, it doesn't matter. I score the same with my current ball, the Volvik XT Soft as I do with the Pro-V1X. Might as well save $35-$40/dozen.

I probably wouldn't play Pinnacle, Nitro's, or most Top Flite's (I didn't mind the Gamers when i used them a few yrs ago... don't know if they still offer them.) I'm also not a big fan of Taylor Made or Callaway balls either... don't know why.... they just don't seem to suit me whenever i've tried various models.

I'll usually give anything a shot for at least several rounds in varying conditions, so it's not like i'm not willing to look for a ball that suits my game best. If i had the time, i'd see about a ball fitting... might be interesting.

refurbished

Honestly there are only a couple balls I will play.

ProV1X
Chrome Tour X

The rest don’t spin enough for me.

Nitro's are hard crap. I hate playing hard balls.

Noodle I’ve never had a good round with.
Also generally avoid most bright colored balls if that counts 😬

I just need a urethane cover. Not picky otherwise.

I try to stay with anything that has a Urethane cover. The brand doesn't matter just as long as it isn't a hard surlyn ball. I'm playing the Maxfli Tour S and have played the Tour Response as well as the QST. I like the lower spinning, softer balls in this category and don't find much difference between them.

Top Flites are brutal. I would crap on Nitros, but they always play well for me. There's been several times times where I've pulled them out as a water ball and ended up playing a whole back 9 with them. They're fine until you hit a wedge.

Kirkland, Noodles, Top Flight, Nitro, OnCore, Cut, PGX, and probably some more.

I wish there was a ball fitting place near me. I don't know if Cut golf balls are still a thing but never again. And maybe cheaper Vice balls, I wouldn't try. Pro Plus, I hear it's decent.

Only play urethane from the major OEMs. I'll also tend to just play one model for quite a while just for the consistency. When I do experiment and change things up I won't omit any of the major OEMs. I never know 'who' is going to make the ball I prefer most when I decide it's time to change, I'm just hoping I find it.

Personally it's not a brand or specific ball. But I can't/won't play the refurbished ones
