Is there a ball you won't play?

I'm finding it harder and harder to play matte golf balls.

It's more a preference than a performance thing.
I love matte balls, but completely agree on the performance end. Would love it if they were equal though.

I have heard your hatred..... but why? The brand? Can't see them? Childhood trauma over the color red?

Yeah, I would never play Nitro.

Matte Red Supersoft though? Hell yeah.
First off, the ball is awful - you are basically hitting a rock.

Second, I maintain red is the worst color for a golf ball - no way you are seeing that thing on the course.

I don't know why, I've just always been able to see the red or even orange better.

Fair - I was playing with someone last week with a red ball. Which makes absolutely no sense in the fall, given that thing blends in with the leaves so easily.

Vice splatter or drip or whatever they call it. They are IMPOSSIBLE to track an equally hard to find.

I won't play TaylorMade balls I think they are awful. I also won't play a soft ball like supersoft, soft feel, etc. They just don't suit what I look for in a golf ball. I also won't play balls like Nitro, Warbird, etc that you get a charity outings.

Yeah, I have to give up on red/yellow/orange probably by late July. As soon as leaves hit the ground they are gone.

In terms of seeing them in the air, I can see them much better over white. But thats also with the aid of prescription lenses lol. No glasses and I can't see any ball 30 feet in front of me.

Anything with soft in it is probably not great for me

I have given up on both Matte finish and Supersoft balls. No go for me.

Top Flite, Nitro, Warbird - they are cheap rocks.

Nothing pink, blue, red, or dual color. You would think red ones to be highly visible on green grass but nope. Blue is the worst.

I prefer yellow golf balls. I hate the red ones.

Wilson Duosoft. For the matte, for the color of the matte, and for the fact that it was the first ball I purchased and I hated it. Matte orange monstrosities shanking down the fairways. Not my best days.

When I saw the thread title I immediately thought of red. Played in a charity scramble and we decided to use red golf balls. (Sunday red thing? I’m not even sure why we picked them). But we had already lost more than a few by hole three just by not being able to find them. Switched to whites pretty quickly.

Outside the usual suspects (Nitro, Noodle, etc..) I won't play a TM TP5. I'm not smart enough to tell you why, but the spin profile does NOT work for me. It is as confusing a golf ball to me as any out there.

I'll play anything if we're just goofing off...but real rounds where we're keeping score?

The list of balls I will play is much, much shorter than the list of balls I won't, so I'll keep it at the premium, Tour-level offerings.

Really the only Tour ball I absolutely don't like is the TP5. I generate a lot of spin on my own, and that ball makes spin more of a detriment than an asset for me, both on approach and around the greens. I get along a little better with the current version of the TP5x - but the last version felt like I was putting a Top Flite Hammer.

Yes, anything non-urethane covered.

Anything Nike. I won't touch it. I had a spell in the 2000s where they did me dirty on course too much. I refused to play them ever since. I don't care what Tiger did with them.

Pretty much ANY Bridgestone ball.

Titleist AVX

Great ball, but lower flight and lower spin is not the help my game needs.

I've been committed to the Triple Diamond all year. I may put something else into play this time of year when it's easy to lose one with all the leaves on the ground, but generally don't play anything else.

Blue are worse by a mile.
Bought my wife a dozen of Maxfli soft in blue. Made it through two sleeves and threw the rest on the junk ball bin.
Impossible to find.

Anything Titliest.
After their censorship debacle I refuse to own anything titliest.
Interesting...I have to ask....what debacle are you referencing?
