Well sure, there are some downsides: porn sites have been the most-visited sites by far, social media turns normal people into evil monsters and has our country ready for civil war, and it will ultimately help AI enslave us all...

But it's also very useful and helps save money too! I've YouTube'd how to repair toilets, remove the stupid anti-theft dye tag from a pair of jeans that I bought, and a whole lot of other DIY and life-hack stuff (not to mention free golf lessons).

For the past few weeks, my car locks have not responded to my remote. I've scoured YouTube and the internet for diagnostic clues, and just yesterday, the Mazda dealership wanted to charge me $230 just for the diagnosis!

Lo and behold, today I discovered this in a Mazda forum, AND IT TOTALLY WORKED!!!

Step 1: Open driver side door and leave open.

Step 2: Lock and Unlock the drivers door using the power door lock switch on the door

Step 3: Insert key into the ignition.

Step 4: Turn Key to ON position and return to Lock (off) position. Do this 3 times within 10 seconds. LEAVE key in the ignition in Lock (off) position.

Step 5: Close and open the drivers door 3 times. Leave door open after this step

Step 6: ECU should respond by locking and unlocking the doors once.

Step 7: Press any button on remote #1 twice. ECU responds by locking and unlocking the car doors.

Step 8: Additional remotes, repeat Step 7 for up to 3 remotes total.

Step 9: Remove the key from the ignition and the ECU will respond a final time with a series (about 4) of door locks and unlocks. You're done!

I'm gonna say it's second best thing ever, I'm still voting sex first.;):D:ROFLMAO:

But, to your point - yes it's great, I have repaired so many expensive things via internet/google/youtube searches - I have probably saved 5K or more - thank's GE crappy appliances!

Can be a very useful tool for sure. Also very dangerous if you don't know how to protect yourself.

I disagree, although sex is a very good thing, I believe Donkey Kong is the best thing ever invented. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

The internet is pretty darn sweet with the right intentions. Unfortunately you have that 1 or 2 % of people that just suck and ruin everything.

Are you ranking Donkey Kong over sex? Very interesting 😂

Boring response: Internet has changed the concept of knowledge. It used to be that knowledge was in books, and access to it was limited. Now we all have massive access to information, and the "game" has two parts to it: 1) sorting out what is a trusted source, or not, and 2) putting together information in new and innovative ways to create new knowledge and outcomes. Is this an improvement? In terms of access and potential innovation, I think yes. In terms of how it impacts society. I think no. / 2 cents

I HATE the internet and wish i was born 50 years before i was so i would have never experienced it. it is making us dumber. it takes over every aspect of life. it turns us against ourselves. it is stopping kids from being kids. i could probably list another 100 things i HATE about the internet but no one will care and they will just go back to scrolling through their phones.

The internet is like the world's biggest library at my fingertips. The amount of knowledge one can pick up is amazing.

I love the internet. Since learning how to use it I have never been wrong. Not even once!

Meh, I kinda like sliced bread..

Pretty big fan of the wheel to be fair.

The internet would not be nearly as cool of it wasn't accessible all the wirelessly via our phones. I would say the phones make the internet as useful as it is.

Tough call between the wheel and internet. I'm taking the wheel.

Now that everything has a video tutorial, it is easier to DIY anything from mower repair, why my shrubbery is turning brown, to whether my friend or myself quoted the movie correctly (it was me).

As with every tool or invention, it all depends on how one uses it. It can be either very good or very bad.

Pros - instant info, shared interest sites, entertainment, memes

Cons - keyboard warriors, loss of privacy

Memes win

The internet is a great tool for learning/browsing, but social media, biased news, and political bickering have ruined the rest of it. A nation united no more. Folks can hide behind their phones and laptops and be anonymous armchair experts on any subject now, without recourse. I tend to shy away from most forums nowadays because I realized by engaging in arguments I was part of the problem in the divisiveness I see on the internet. I rarely post on Facebook, Twitter, etc., because it’s just so ugly. But yes, I have found fixes for car troubles, home repairs, and golf club building on YouTube and golf forums. It beats paying gobs of money for books and magazines that pile up somewhere or get lost. It is nice having things like that available at your fingertips. Not to mention most folks on golf forums seem to be good people who really just want to get better at this miserably hard game. No, the internet is not the greatest thing in human history, far from it. But it is nice to have. People my age can still get by without it. Living in freedom, having choices, etc., far outweigh the internet.

I swear, so many people get on my nerves from bringing in their boats and motors half torn apart saying" But it looked easy on the internet" and wanting me to put it back together that I could scream!

I vote for Sex #1
The Internet was supposed to make everyone Smarter but I don't think that is happening.
But I do like being able to utube how to reset my oil light or program a Key fob.

All one has to do is read the comments section on YouTube videos for proof of that.

IMO, the internet is simultaneously the best and worst thing that has ever happened to society. It's put the world at our fingertips, but it has also created a lot of negative things and given platforms to things/people that we'd really be better off if they didn't have platforms.

It was making people smarter, then Facebook happened!
