Good morning. Curious to see if anyone measured the raw weight of their KBS TGI Parallel shafts (in my case, 80) after trimming. After trimming my 9 iron shaft to play right at 36", the raw weight of the shaft (no grip, etc) is right around 62g! Does that sound right? I know these are 41" blanks and after trimming, the raw length is about 34.75". So I removed approximately 6.25". Would that account for the near 20g loss?

Anyone?

If weight is evenly distributed through the shaft take the weight divided by length and multiply that by your cut length or weigh the cut end. Most weight on shafts are by raw weight and not cut weight. A manufacturer has +\- on weight plus balance point locations. Your example 80/41= 1.9512 x 6.25 = 12.1951g loss if the shaft was evenly weighted. The balance point is 19.5” from the tip on the raw shaft so the tip is the heavier side so it is believable that that is correct.

So, an 80 gram shaft can have a 60 gram playing weight?
