Kinderlou Forest in the GA sticks, time for The Gethering in '26

Since we’re about six weeks away I thought I would see if there is any interest in doing what we did last year.

Play on Thursday Oct. 15 at Sapelo Hammock Golf Club in Shellman Bluff, GA then on Friday play at Laura Walker state park in Waycross, GA on the way to Valdosta.

What are y’alls thoughts?

I get in about 10pm Thursday (I expect a cocktail to be waiting in the car for me :ROFLMAO: ) but I'm all in for the Friday round a Laura Walker.
 
I think I will be in Myrtle beach at that time. Maybe next time.

I won’t be able to make Thursday but what time would you be looking at playing at Laura Walker SP?

Pursuant to the bylaws of respectful and reasonable play (I don’t want to get a divorce) I need to drop out. I have my Cool Clubs trip the week before and if I leave the next weekend i get back, I will be living in Tallahassee permanently.

As much as I enjoyed this trip last year I need to step aside and let someone on the waitlist jump in. This was a great trip last year and I was really looking forward to hanging out again, but timing is not good.

Have fun and let me know if I owe any $$ due to the timing of me dropping out.
 
Spoke to @brotherdave and he would be willing to take a spot if anyone has to drop out.

Probably sometime between 10-11 AM for tee times like we did last year.
 
Until this thread popped up I absolutely forgot about it. I may be unable to make it as well. This once again falls on Homecoming weekend. I’m trying to figure out if I am allowed to attend and should know by middle of next week.

Kinderlou Forest might well be the definition of hidden gem. Former host to the South Georgia Classic on what is now the Korn Ferry Tour, and hosting multiple stages of KFT Q-school for the past several years. Tipping out at 7,781 yards, Kinderlou can provide a substantial test to anyone daring to play that far back. Five other sets of tees allow for surprising playability for golfers of every level. Accommodations on site are two very nice 4BR/3.5BA condos situated near the 5th green. Each bedroom has two queen beds. Food is typically handled off site for breakfast, but there is a kitchen for anyone who brings their own food. For the last few years lunch and/or dinner has usually been enjoyed at the clubhouse. Now that the course is fully private, we are being limited to 4 tee times.

October 16-18, 2026 - arrive Friday night, leave after golf Sunday
18 holes Saturday, 18 holes Sunday
Double occupancy, two queen beds per bedroom
Probably at least one gas station cake

More than 10 years ago, the Gethering started as a GA/FL grudge match amongst THPers who liked nothing more than playing golf with other THPers. Some familiar names and faces have come and gone, but Kinderlou remains the same and invites us to enjoy what it has to offer every fall: A stunning and challenging golf course, fine lodging and an enjoyable atmosphere. It pains me to say this as I've been looking forward to coming to this again! But I will have to bow out this year. My brother and his family will be in the province that week, they haven't been here in over 3 years. I need to be home then. :(
