NEWS Koepka leaving LIV

Haha.
PIF was running low 2 years ago too when LIV was dying. Then again last year when LIv was dying.

Good lord some of this is like the instructions on the back of a shampoo bottle.

Eventually when LIV folds, someone is going to point to the receipts and say “see, told ya” despite being wrong with every take

But may have done it , for many years well before the existence of LIv .. and all the supports
What other tour travels the world every few weeks?

These things aren’t instant. You know that. The Saudis stole all this cash from their countrymen from 2017-2019 and they’ve been wasting it ever since. Now they have a bunch of very expensive projects, not much cash, and the crap they’ve bought is a lot like LIV (not worth much). No one goes bankrupt in a year. It happens slowly then all of a sudden. When all of a sudden is, has yet to be seen. My bet with ahead says for LIV it happens before next season. I gave myself the time you don’t seem to want to give me.

My receipt is I had the balls to put my money on the line

I’m so confused by this entire conversation. Koepka’s reason for leaving LIV was he wanted to be closer to family? However he is now reapplying to the PGA Tour, don’t they travel just as much? Yes I understand that LIV tournaments had more global stops, but didn’t they have less events?

Either way it just doesn’t make sense to me.

Well part of what the PGAT is missing with its players is a requirement to play certain tournaments within a two or three year span. Brooks could play a schedule that was only majors, Florida, Georgia, Texas and South Carolina, cut way down on travel and there’s nothing stopping that.

Yeah I guess that makes a lot of sense.

Exactly this.
On LIV, they are required to be at every event......and most of them are around the world, not in the US.

By picking "local" events to Florida, he can be home a lot more with the family which is what seems to be his priority right now.

Agree, its gloom and doom each and every year since LIV started, and I think for some , instructions on a shampoo bottle could be use at your own risk.:ROFLMAO:,

PGA Tour doesn’t travel nearly as much as LIV. With the exception of the British and Scottish Open all the events are in the US and you don’t have to go play the Scottish and British if you don’t want to. You can play pretty much every PGA Tour event and be home on Sunday night/Monday morning if you fly private like Brooks could afford to.

Next year 5 LIV events are in the US. The other 8 are around the globe including needing to spend multiple weeks on the Pacific Rim.

There is a 2 week stretch early in the season that is Saudi then Australia. Two weeks off then Hong Kong, Singapore, South Africa. It would be very hard to get home for a day or two in the middle of those stretches.

I am not sure where I stand on a penalty/suspension to come back. Conceptually I would be fine with no suspension. I do think that the players have given up their status and should need to earn their way back on through qualifying, sponsors exemptions etc. I realize that Brooks won the PGA in 2023 which comes with a 5 year exemption (I believe). He wasn’t a member of the PGA Tour at the time. I could go either way on letting him have whatever is left of that exemption or saying that because you passed on the offer at the time you don’t get it anymore.

To see what someone is thinking:

What they say <<<< What they do

But the LIV schedule isn’t back to back sees in most cases. You have 2-3 weeks off and sometimes longer so it washes out.

I think the family is an excuse to bounce and that’s his right to do it

I think they overall majority of these LIV players used the excuse for family, even Bryson " DeChambeau said: "People can say I moved to one side, but I did it for my family and what I had in front of me at that point in time. I think my mom would have probably smacked me for not taking the deal." Golfmonthly April 2024

Brooks said about why he went to LIV, he noted, did it for the dough.

Announced today that he has applied for reinstatement to the PGA Tour.
I hope they reinstate him, if only to see Chamblee and Eamon Lynch lose their minds over it.

Yeah. I'd like to see no penalties and let them back in signature events for the good of the field and name recognition and then see Lynchy completely go nuts. Might have a stroke over it.

This is where I am at on the reasoning. Just come out and say it versus making excuses. Have the time his wife and son where traveling with him.

There is also a mention of a miscarriage so that played into his decision also. I heard John Rahm mention that on the podcast with Colt Knost

And he did it because he didn’t know if his knee would respond after the surgery. LIV dumped the bag in his lap at the right time and he would have been dumb not to accept

Yeah I don’t wish that situation on anyone and had to be extremely difficult with.

The entire issue is beyond Koepka and both LIV and PGA to find a way to exist together.

The entirety of sports in general is a mess.

Family was a cop out.

7 of the 12 events are back to back and the break in the other events are primarily driven by the majors
