NEWS Koepka leaving LIV

Koepka always seems to play regular events kinda pedestrian. At majors is where he really seems to get motivated, focused, and shows up.

I agree but his majors weren’t good last year. If I remember correctly when he left for LIV he had 4 majors and 4 regular wins. He definitely showed in the majors.

I think he had some personal issues. His wife had a miscarriage last year, so that could have affected his play.

Golf Channel says that Brooks will play in the Farmers and the WM Phoenix. Other LIV are eligible to return this year: Smith, Rahm, Koepka, Bryson.

Brooks to pay a $50-90m penalty through fines, no equity, and no bonuses.

Seems.....reasonable.

That's a lot of money to pay to get back on tour (not saying it's unfair). Think Wesley Bryan gets reinstated?

Interesting. I don't really know anything about the Player's Equity Program. The donation seems silly but if that makes people feel better than ok. This is open until Feb 2nd and the first LIV event is Feb 4th.

Let's make sure this reads correctly. Hes not paying $50m-$90m.

This is a written warning when he was threatened with life in jail

Glad to see him back officially. Interested to see if anyone else follows

true. He’s not paying that, he’s giving up being able to receive equity in the Tour for 5 years, plus forfeiting FedEx Cup bonus money for this year. Total value lost estimates at $50-90m.

which as long as theres not a massive fine from LIV for leaving, he is more than compensated beyond that $90m. And this becomes a literal slap on the wrist

Thanks for the list...it was very clearly written to only allow a path back for a few select guys. Interesting to see if any of them want to follow.

Don't know much about Brian Rolapp - but I like him already. I knew they would find a way to allow Koepka to play yet make it so strict that the LIV golfers they don't want can't come. Its crafted in a way a lawyer would love. Brooks tees up on Jan 29th!!

*Must have won a major between 2022 - 2025. only Koepka, Rahm, Bryson and Smith satisfy this req't.
*5 year forfeit of players equity program money. this is in response to current PGAT players wanting LIV players to give up money. (yet this is a forgo of money, not a pay back - so Brooks gets to keep his LIV money).
*$5mill charitable donation. - Also shows current PGAT players he is shelling out cash from his pocket. But to be truthful, I would imagine that Koepka already donates to charities, so this could really be a nothing to Koepka.
*window closing Feb 2. Perhaps to appease the LIV folks that the tour won't be poaching players.
*No current PGAT playing spots will be taken away. If Brooks is playing in a tourney, the field increases by 1.

This also sends a message to current PGAT players in that they will know what they need to do to come back to the tour in the event they are thinking about jumping to LIV. I imagine the PGAT can open up a window each year should they choose.

Kudos Brian Rolapp!!! And can't wait to see what Koepka does on 1/29!!

Countdown to Bryson's return...?

I disagree. The penalty for leaving isnt enough and doesnt protect PGAT from guys leaving, especially if they are signing for more than the $50-$90m number that is being floated out there

Closing Feb 2 which is just before the first LIV 2026 event tees off.

If Brooks et al decides to play an event the field will expand by enough players to fill a tee time
