Last Time You Tried a Completely Different Grip?

For the CC2026 I wentGP Tour Velvet. My go to is Lamkin Full Cord and more recently the Lamkin Utx cord - and I have to be honest I strongly dislike the GP Jumbo Tour Velvet - they feel so unsure of their grip and in the rain, forgetaboutit! The reason I chose them was they weigh the exact same as a full cord midsize and I can go back to those without any drama. After playing yesterday I absolutely must do the grip change, for everyone's safety. I'm open to other grips but I can't see wanting to play anything besides the Utx full cord. They are stellar. Too bad the company was bought and the replica reimagined isn't anywhere to be found yet. Plus I don't like that brand name so much so I'll likely find another full cord to play when I run out of my current stock.

UTX+ was my go to grip. Most of my clubs now have a full cord Z grip on them. Great all weather grip, and firm enough for fantastic feel and control, but can be a bit much when hitting 8-900 balls a week. I am taking a hard look at the Revl Element 4X, Love the sizing and profile. Unfortunately just as I started this test I suffered a hand injury, have surgery Tuesday, and will be out of commission for at least 8 weeks.... Initially I thought it might be a bit soft for great face control, but time will tell....

Are these in the high end price range? 👀
They are about $30/grip.

It is an initially higher outlay than the grips I was using before which is offset by the fact that the Gripmaster leather grips are substantially more durable and do not lose their tackiness over time. They are extremely sticky.

I started with the clubs I use the most to see how durable the grips would be. Started with Driver and my Lob wedge. Tried two different grips to determine which I would prefer. The sewn Roo and the Classic Tour wrap.

The grip on my Driver has now been played for two years and over 300 rounds. The grip itself is in good shape. The sides of the rubber butt cap have been worn down from the repeated in and out of the bag. I was changing my previous grips about twice a year, so I’ve more than broken even financially. The performance of the Gripmaster grip though is far superior.

If you prefer not to wear a golf glove, have sweaty hands, live in a hot & humid environment or play in the rain there is no better grip that I’ve found.

In the coldest part of winter the grips do feel firmer and have less tackiness than when the weather is warmer.

When I came back to golf I went through a few grips. Had Tour Velvet Mid +4, then moved to JumboMax medium, then Xsmall and thought I was good. Then THP had a bunch of write ups on the WMX grips, the Hyper+ Jumbo was realeasing so I tried that out with 4 wraps. I really liked it on my wedges but made my woods feel light on the head (Hyper+ Jumbo are 70g). I ended up going back to JumboMax but now in their regular Jumbo size on the JMX Lite as they are 49g.

When I reshaft from the 120g shafts to something lighter I'm probably going to move back to the WMX Hyper+ Jumbo as they are a bit more fun.

Switched to Superstroke Crossline 2.0 full cord on a whim last month from long time use of GP Tour velvet cord and will continue using these. I feel like the cord in this grip does a better job than the TV cords. They are better when the heat and humidity are high and this morning I practiced for a few hours in the rain and it was the best grip I've ever used in the rain. Will continue to use them.

When is the last time you tried a completely different brand or style of grip?
Swing grips, not putter grips.
I just bought some super stroke element grips and a crossline 2.0 full cord.

I think I like the crossline 2.0 and may get more.

I used to like the Lamkin Crossline 360. Superstroke discontinued the 360 after they purchased Lamkin so I moved to the GLP velvet in blue from Wedgeguys.com. I am very happy with them.

I am using the Well Mxs Mid+4 Super - based on a lot of input here. I had purchased a set of Superstroke Revl Mids for my arthritic wrists, but they never made the clubs. Prior to that I was MCC +4 grips. The Supers are just superb. I might do the wedges and woods in them as well (using other Well MXS on those clubs).

Last winter, when I switched over to the REVL Comforts and realized the Jumbomax grips were causing my tennis elbow issues. I've stuck with them since.
People absolutely loved the Comforts in fittings this year. It was crazy how well and how quickly it was received.

I can see why. They are great, and have a good price. There’s no sense buying grips 2-3x their cost.

I put the REVL Comfort on all my clubs and really enjoy them

This thread has inspired me. I'm going to swap a grip tonight. Have some Element 4X, Player 4X, Icon, .. 🤔

I recently got a dealer account with Star Grips here in Chandler, AZ. I put one of their Jumbo grips on my 4-iron and really like it.

2 years ago when THP introduced me to WMXs and I have not looked back. Still rocking the Hyper Mids, but I have been experimenting with the Super+ this past month.

In the last 6 years I have tried SuperStroke Cross Comfort, Lamkin Sonar Wrap, Lamkin Sonar, and they had a black and gray one but I don't remember the name. Golf Pride CP2, CP2 Wrap, CP2 Wrap Medium, Roo Leather grips, Winn Dri-Tac, Win Dri-Tac Wraps, Super Stroke Revel Comfort, and I currently gaming Golf Pride Tour Velvet +4 (with 2 extra layers of tape). I was having so much hand, wrist, and elbow issues that I tried different grips to dampen vibration. Realized last year I needed graphite iron shafts. I do love my current setup, the Tour Velvet +4 are really nice. I swap out grips every year, I am intrigued by the new Golf Pride PC Plus4 Grips.
