Whatever happened to the USGA penchant to remove long putters from use? Have not heard anything for a few years I watch players as they putter with these type of putters, and some still are so close to their chest with their grip/hand position at the top, it does look like/appear to be anchoring!! Just my observation on a 65" inch TV. What do you think??

I think its a non issue, it looks close on some of them but I think its mostly just the loose shirt hanging down when they bend over to putt. However, without 100% proof the various Tours can't do anything.

I don't mind long putters. Some look close to anchoring but these guys are pros. Its how they make their living.

The USGA never banned long putters. They banned anchoring.

Its up to the on course officials to determine if a player is anchoring. The hand touching the shirt is not anchoring.

I get it, but I thought that they were going to ban long putters at a certain point in time. Never used one myself, and have never played with anyone who uses one. They look a little cumbersome, and where do you put that in your bag? My current putter is only 29"!

I played Behind a guy the other day that was using what must have been a 5 foot long putter damn thing looked like a tv antenna sticking out the back of the cart and this is coming from a guy that uses a broom stick putter

I just seem to remember some scuttlebutt about the USGA thinking about banning long putters. If not, I stand corrected!

I am sure they wanted to or mentioned it. But they never addressed the equipment, just no anchoring

I do remember that a bunch of PGA pros that used them, went back to regular putters, because of the discussion. Don't see too many on Tour anymore...
