Looking to play with THPers while in Raleigh/Pinehurst

Good morning, everyone!
I heard back, and we have tee times reserved!

Since it is 3 tee times, they squeezed us in such that we have 2 on the first tee and one on the 10th tee, but starting and finishing at the same time.
Date: Saturday, April 26th
Time: 1:40/1:50 (10th tee start)
Time: 1:50 PM (1st tee start)
Course: No. 8

Course 8 is always in great shape (my second favorite layout at Pinehurst) and was designed by Tom Fazio and has been designated as a Signature Sanctuary by the Audubon Society. It is not on the "main campus" as my wife likes to say (Courses 1-5), but we can always head back there after for putting at Thistle Dhu and dinner at the Duece.
Excellent! Thanks so much and can’t wait!

#8 looks incredible! Thank you so much for this! I'm so stoked for this trip!!

I played #8 last year. It's a really fun course. Should be a good challenge for us :)

Will be carnage for me but I'll enjoy it.
You know what, I'm apparently having a tough day because I am confusing it with #9. #8 looks much more fun than 9.

You are awesome. Thank you for doing this. I’m incredibly excited about #8.

Is the reservation under Vonhof?
Yes sir!

8 is a fun round. It has good vistas and some challenging holes. It was fully re-done in 2022 where they removed over a foot of thatch on the fairways got it draining better than before. The greens were brutally hard, but have softened up now, and are receptive.

It has what I would consider one of the hardest par 5's I play, which is hole 6. It is 565 from the white tees, the tee shot being over water and to an uphill landing area that is pinched by trees on the right side, but the ideal tee shot fades around the trees since hole shape goes that way, then slightly left and slants left for the second shot. It is visually intimidating for me, since my ball flight does not match it and I almost birdied it one time (par) and probably all other times I average a double or worse.

Had to look this up. That’s a beast of a par 5! Looks like it takes 3 really good shots to walk away with par or one bad one to end up with a double. Can’t wait to play this course!

That is dead on correct! Pick how much you can bite off for each shot but always think about the next shot and where you want to be.

Awesome @SVonhof, thanks. Will dig into it later today.

Guys I'm really excited about this. Pinehurst #8 has my full attention. Youtube doesn't do it justice, but it definitely tells me how tough this is going to be.

The greens are softer than when they filmed those videos, luckily! Also, all the French drains you could see are now invisible.
But, it is a fantastic layout!

Just a little over a week out! I'm pumped for this!

Oh yeah, gonna be specia!

Can’t freaking wait! This is going to be a blast!
Me too man. We played some awesome courses last year and this Pinehurst trip was my favorite.

So my son has been straight up bullying me to ask if he can go. I am not sure if the meet up is full or everyone is ok with him joining so I figured I'd ask. He is 11 going on about 19 🤣. He can keep up from the forward tees for sure.
It's literally the first thing he asks when I get home from work...dad can I play Pinehurst. If it's full or anyone has objections that's perfectly fine and I'll take him another time.

He really also wants to meet who I talk to all the time on the forum and who I'll be playing with at ballyhack.

There are 8 of us, right?

I can't remember my brain is mush with how busy work has been
If we only have 8, he can have my spot. I've been blessed to have played Pinehurst many times.
