Looks like a new Callaway Apex line of irons is coming out.

I'm not criticizing or anything and I hope it didn't come off that way to people . Just saying what's coming out and who might be excited about it and who might be less so.

Also said you'd have a great review for all of us shortly, much better than anything I could do which is why I've held back from writing paragraphs on my testing
Pretty sure I never said that, but it’s sure funny you read things that way my guy. All I’ve done is state that we will have all the details coming in our release article, coming soon.

Eye roll and laughing emojis I guess

Booked! Friday 4 PM. Its gonna be fun, I’m playing at 0820. So should get a shower and be exhausted by 4 hahaha.

I think a lot of people are going to be very happy with the AI200. It's an absolute cannon and it's not overly big. To me , IIRC it was maybe a tiny bit bigger visually then say something like the T150. Kind of between that and a T200 in terms of size. It's an attractive head in the bag and has a little bit of offset.

When guys test them at the Granddaddy they are going to gain like 10-15+ yards. And their launch will improve.

A lot of people are going to really like it.

If you are looking for a small CB or MB type head, unless there is something coming out beyond the 3 i saw---that is where guys might be disappointed, but that's a small group.
Did you happen to hit the Pros in the 3, 4 or 5 irons? I’m wondering if the feel throughout the set in the 200s is comparable to those long irons.

Apex pro? Yes but not close enough together to give you valid feedback sorry. I haven't hit the previous apex line this season.

I will say the AI200 is a very nice feeling iron. The Callaway rep was also talking about how he had gotten that feedback too

Scheduled a session at GG to give these a go. Worst case it’ll be fun to hit.

Awesome, I'm thinking the more news these events get out the fewer spots will actually be available. Had some good peeps let me know too.

Nice!

Yeah, I’m talking about the Apex Pros released last fall. I’m hoping these will essentially extend the tech that’s in those long irons (which feel great IMO) through an entire set.

Which part is surprising maybe I can clarify, what do the pics look like to you?

I hit it for 30 mins or so, but didn't take side by side pics

But my impression was a tiny bit bigger than t150 and more offsetI would have expected them to look a little chunkier

@BuffaloPlunger no I would not say the AI200 is chunky.

It's not a tiny iron and has a bit of offset. Kind of like the classic Callaway offset look , but it's not too big either.

I wish I had more experience with like the P790 so I could make a better comp but I haven't hit those.

Better players could certainly use. It's not as much of a "players" look vs T150 to me (best comp I can make since I own T150) but it's not far off

How would you say it compares to ZX5s? I’m looking forward to trying them next weekend

I also freaked out with massive FOMO seeing this thread go from 11 pages to 17 in around 24 hours.

Fortunately there were many recipes, knots, updates and mayhem and just a few small spoilers which had all of their links failing by the time I got to click on them. Roll on Monday - but I will be searching around for a Callaway fitting event locally over the coming weeks.

Haven't hit the ZX5 enough to really say and not for a while.....I would say it will appear a bit larger than ZX7 but not by much throughout the set

And there is a bit of offset, a bit more to my eye than a T150/ZX7 type club. This doesn't bother me at all

Comparing specs quickly, there’s more lift than the ZX5 by 1* with .1mm less offset. Not a huge difference from the ZX7….very interesting

offset is a weird spec at least to me, some clubs look like they have more/less of it even with similar specs. But if you don't mind a little bit it's certainly not a problem. I played 659CB for a while and they were famous for having a bit with a smaller type head.

I‘d agree with that regarding offset. I‘ve seen irons with the same offset or face progression look completely different depending on for example leading edge straightness or the way the topline and the hosel are connected (I am sure there’s a fancy name for that)

Aesthetics lol but I don’t know if there’s a technical term

Anyone think the ti fusion will have black steel stock shafts? The Canadian site only showed graphite. I want to throw black steel shafts on the 200Ai’s if possible.

The early release cut sheet on the ti fusions showed a TT DG mid 100 gunmetal which appeared to be black.

I believe the DG iron shafts have a black label , but the shafts themselves are not black. It's possible im wrong on this.

Most of my testing was with the DG 110-115 and they were not black shafts. The label is black though

I have only a handful of hours before my knowledge on these clubs becomes useless. Let me know what theme you would like and i'll say something bold
