So after being rained off in January, I replayed today thanks to my rain check. After weeks of sun, got caught in rain again, but it was only a bit gnarly for 3 holes. As I was playing with an unknown 3, I decided to opt for a caddy. As people told me in the caddy thread I started, best decision ever. Totally made the day a great day, and a massive help on the greens. He was also the ex president of the club I’m a member of, so we had plenty to talk about. Shot an 88, which considering the conditions on the back 9, I’ll take. If you ever get a chance to play this course, yes, it’s ridiculously expensive, but it should be on every golfers bucket list. And do yourself a favor, get a caddy!!!

Very nice, someday it will happen.

Thanks for the write-up and photos!

Awesome pics! Will always temper playing there in 92! Wish I took pics😖

You got to play it twice! Even though the first time was a rain check. Nice!

Great pics and congratulations on the round.

Great pics, thanks. One if these days I'll make it there.

Good stuff. Nice pix.

Thanks for sharing!

That's awesome, thanks for sharing. It's on my bucket list!

Amazing. A great friend just went out there. He loved it. Hes ready to go back.

Never too many photos of that place.

Wow. Yes it’s on every golfers bucket list. But it’s hugely expensive. Like downpayment on a car expensive. Like 2-3 weeks pay expensive. I’m guessing flying from Chicago to Cali, hotel 6/holiday inn - one round at pebble with cart - would run an easy 2,300-3000

Glad you got a redo. Definitely on my bucket list to play one day.

Yeah, coming here from out of town, let alone out of state would be mega expensive. If you were travelling from Chicago, you'd probably want to make a few days of it, theres a good amount of decent courses out here, so 3K would probably be the lower end of what you'd expect to pay.

Always love looking at pics of this place, would love to go someday!

Did you use a phone for the pictures?
They look amazing

Mark - great to hear you had a wonderful experience, AND that you shot a very respectable score. Just curious, how many strokes would you think your caddie saved you for the round?

Difficult to put a number on it, but without him, I reckon I’d have shot mid to high 90’s. I stuck my ball in the green side bunker on the first. Way more sand than I’m used to, so it took me 3 to get out and carded a 7. That normally would have destroyed me, but the whole time he was giving encouragement, things like you got this, from that lie your going to hole it. Amazingly, it did help getting the encouragement. The greens are notoriously difficult. He nailed the reads and I holed some lengthy ones. There were a few times where I would have sworn the greens broke the other way, but he was right every time. The only time I didn’t trust him was on the short 7th. There was a stiff breeze into our faces. The 80 yard hole was playing 100. I felt the wind was stronger, so tried to take a bit of a PW, and sliced it into the Pacific. I re teed, trustee his yardage, hit my 50 degree and ended up pin high 10’ right of the hole.He was an 11 year caddy, the guy knew his stuff. I will ask for him specifically next time I’m there.

Eh, it can't be that bad. I mean, the round is what... $600 or so. Flight should be around $400-$500 ($267 with SWA if you go Tues-Thur). If you're cheaping out on the hotel, maybe $200 for 2 nights. Rental car should be around $150 for 2 days or less. I bet it could get done for under $2k. Around $1500 if you played your cards right and that was the whole trip.

I'd roll it into another trip so it didn't see so expensive.
