Available at Golf Galaxy. Kinda pricey for a house brand at $999 and $1099. Thoughts?

I was reading these are Maltby irons with Maxfli aesthetics. Should be good performers but not sure about that price tag.

I also adore the Callaway wedge in that bottom photo.

Feels like if I did a little shopping I could get the same irons 30-40% cheaper with a different logo.

And for the record, not against that, love that there are multiple price point entries for folks to get new clubs. There is something special about taking the plastic off a new club, no matter the OEM/brand, that everyone should get to experience.

Choices are good but I think these miss the mark at that price point.

I think they forgot their name is MaxFli...the irons do look pretty good, tho

They do look sharp. That kind of dough, someone will be purchasing another brand.

These are the new Maltby forged irons. I would buy these any day of the week over similar priced sets with other names on them.

Also available for order through Golfworks.

Just looking at these for longer than six seconds depreciates them by 18%.

Has anyone paid list price for a Dick’s house brand? They will be discounted heavily soon enough.

Does Maltby do their own R&D or are they just another Takoma style company?

They have a design team and work with the foundry to apply the tech. I suspect most of the tech comes from the foundry regardless of the brand.

I hit these at golf Galaxy and dang if they don’t feel great. Not sure what ceramic does inside forged heads, but the sound and feel of these things are pretty amazing. I kind of want a set now. If Golf works, could add some more graphite options and these things go on sale as frequently as most stuff does at Golf galaxy for a house brand. These things would be pretty awesome.

I wonder if ceramic is a new “buzz” technology in DTC clubs. Ben Hogan has ceramic in their new irons as well.

Best feeling club I may have ever hit.

Look great too. But it’s essentially a Maltby TS3 which is around $80-$110 each depending on shaft.

I know that’s what everyone says and I saw where Britt on the Maltby forums said they took the “TS3 chassis” but I think everyone is talking that too literal and thinks it’s the same club. To me the maxfli XC2 feels better than the TS3. Not sure if it’s the weighting or what…the cavity is clearly different. I hit TS4, TS3 and TS1m and the TS3 were my least favorite. I love the XC2.

I did hit the XC3 a few times. Feels pretty good and damn if they are not a distance iron. Flew 8 yards more than XC2 for me.

Do the TS3 even have ceramic? I don’t see anywhere that it mentions it does. I have no clue of that is the magic sauce or not but just couldn’t get over how these feel. I would have to imagine if these were in a blind hitting test these would come out on top. Because I can’t imagine that I would prefer, mentally, a Maxfli iron over a major brand.

It doesnt mention ceramic weighting on the Golfworks website for the TS3

In the new 2025 Maltby catalog there is a TS3.5 becoming available around June-ish. It has stronger lofts and the ceramic. I would safely assume that the TS3.5 VERY close, if not the same, as the XC2. The OG TS3 were released about 2-3 years ago. I'm pretty sure they were designed at least 3 years ago and I'm pretty sure they designed the Maxfli and the new TS3.5 side by side and changed a few cosmetic aspects to differentiate them (sorry for the run on sentence).
I will be getting the 3.5's when they are released. They are similar lofts to what I've been playing since 2020 with the Sim2 irons and now the PXG 0211 XCor2.
My son in law has the Maltby STi2's and loves them. I hit them and they are really nice for cast clubs. I would say better than most of the OEM's in that design type. Maltby designs and manufactures great golf clubs.

As others have noted, the price does seem a bit high, but I’d love to try these out just to get the feel of the ceramic insert.

I hit them both earlier this week. The wider sole felt better than the thin sole.

I’m have hit these so many times now in GG. Hit them enough showing my buddy in a FaceTime video he ordered some.

The only question I have is, how will that sole play outside? It plays fantastic off Turf indoors. These are the best feeling heads I have hit in a looong time. Many will sleep on them because they say Maxfli. Having a hard time myself, pulling the trigger, but I think I will.

More interested in the TS3.5 than the Maxfli line to be honest. But to each their own of course.

TS3.5 will be wider sole and thicker top line than TS3, correct?
