mini-driver question from a historical hater

Just cut down a big driver and add loft. You’ll get the same pickup on accuracy.

In my head i'm kinda thinking what would be better....hitting it 268 with 51% fairways, or hitting it like 259 with 72% fairways.

I'm not sure that's the exact math.....but something like that

It's what i'm debating trying
I’ve been kind of going down this rabbit hole and I’m currently trying out a 43” 11* Elyte “thriver” and a TBD 46” “bomber” to try to min/max my strokes gained off the tee next year.

This could be good for you.

No worries with the thriver swing weight? Or as the player you are, you lead tape it.

I thought for a second Jeff was making threads about me. 😆
Needless to say, I'm interested in this thread. 2mph less seems about right. 10-20 yards less which just seems useless in most situations
Dispersion cone also comes in. 5 deg off line at 20 yards shorter might keep you out of the trees.

The Elyte has 4 weight ports so no issues there. Right now I have it with 2g in the front and a 13g and 23g weight in the rear center and toe respectively, and it’s around D4 I believe.

Nice. Great flexibility

A little late to the thread. But after getting the GT280 this year and seeing some success. I did an 18 hole head to head contest between it snd the GT2.

I went out on our course while it was closed for the afternoon. I hit the 280 and GT2 on each hole. I alternated every other hole to which one i hit first one wouldn’t have the advantage of a “warm up” swing. I was shocked at how close they were. Here’s the summary.

Fairways Hit: GT2 9/14 GT280 11/14

average distance. GT2 212 GT280 197

Longest Driive GT2 227 GT280 208.

I am already short enough so I continued to use the GT2 as my primary driver fo the yesr. But I carried both in the bag—no 3 wood. It’s pretty much useless for me.

But if i came to a hole where it was imperative i get in the fairway I often went to the GT280.

Yeah yeah you swing 118 blah blah and have chiseled abs. And I swing 104 and can knock an 8 iron into a wine glass from 153yds

One day we will have our own sitcom on CBS like perfect strangers.

It's can't miss
I was thinking it would be the odd couple

Bro you’ve been lifting

I hit my BRNR mini almost as far as my ST Max driver. And the ST Max is over length relative to standard. This tells me the physics are more about the launch conditions than the shaft length and resulting swing speed. Ymmv widely.
