Mitsubishi Diamana WB Shaft Review

Played a round today and the WB (53S) continues to perform well for me. I only hit 2 fairways, but was within 5 yds on 7; I average ~5 fairways. I need to adjust my aim as I end to aim left rough for my fade and a few stayed on the left side. Next time I'll aim more left fairway instead as its been less of a fade. The shaft holds up well when I go at it and feels stable. When I went after it with the Ventus Red (previous shaft) I felt like it would kick a bit which led to some of my dispersion issues, when I time it well, it probably goes a little bit further, but the misses result in greater dispersion.

Seems like a pretty big jump from Ventus red to WB. What drove that call?

Found a good deal on the Ventus Red and reading some reviews I thought it was worth a try so wasn't fit into it. For the Diamana experience, I went through the online shaft recommendation tool and it recommended the WB. I put in the tool that I wanted lower flight and lower spin. Lower flight because my home course can get windy and lower spin because when I went to demo some clubs I was seeing about 2800-3500 rpm spin at 108 CHS and 13-14* launch with my gamer and the person said I prob need lower spin.

Had a range session to compare my Ventus Red 6S and WB 53S. I hit about 15 shots with each shaft. I don’t have exact numbers but consistency with the WB is better for me. The Ventus I feel like when the timing is off the dispersion is greater, the WB I can go after it more aggressively and it stays stable.

In terms of distance, on my best hits the WB is slightly longer and higher which was unexpected. The tree line is 250 out from the lower deck. The Ventus I usually carry to the baseline and on a good hit I would get halfway up the tall tree in the middle. With the WB on solid hits I’m hitting the upper half of the tree.

Not a lot of data, will continue to test them both. Home course is usually busy so hard to switch out shafts to hit two balls.

It’s been a minute since I was so enamoured with a golf shaft, but here we are with the Diamana WB in 53 S.

Earlier this month at the SkyTrak Experience, @JB let me try the shaft out of his driver after my gamer made some weird noises and I was spraying shots everywhere.

From the first swing it felt amazing. Super stable but still responsive in the hands. Lively, but not uncontrollable.

This is meant to be a lower launching shaft, but my ball flight has been mid, yet still penetrating. It’s predictable and consistent - more so than I’ve experienced in recent memory.

I’ve got 4 rounds in now with the Diamana WB and I will be gaming this as-is unless something serious happens.

Tonight I went 3/4 for fairways hit with driver, and the 4th was just off in the first cut. Distance was amazing, and the feel was so, so good. This has made me excited to hit driver again, and I’m so incredibly thankful.

My best of the round tonight:

Glad to hear it’s working well for you. What shaft were you using before?

Ordered a 73TX for my Adapt X 3W yesterday, I’m pretty darn excited.

Immediately before I was using a Graphite Design AD-IZ.

The WB is the most “stable smooth” driver shaft I think I’ve ever tested.
Yes that’s a great way of saying it. Like, I can feel the shaft loading in my hands, but I also trust that it’s not going to get away from me and stay square at impact.

It’s addicting.

Curious....have you tried the Tensei Pro Orange? I know it's a CB shaft, little softer in the handle, and I think profile is slightly stiffer tip.

I’ve hit it a bit, the CB in it wasn’t the best for me, but I’ve spent some time with it.

For me, the feel difference from Tensei to Diamana is pretty significant, which as we know it’s supposed to be. But it’s a smoothness without sacrificing stability where in Tensei I tend to get stability above all else, even in my 1K Tensei Red, it’s just sooooooo “there” feeling in the swing.

I’ve come to learn too that stiffer under the handle is better for me, so I think that’s why the WB works so well

Agreed. A couple times at the range I go after it for testing and it just remains so stable

I'm with you on the feel difference between diamana and tensei. I feel the same when I compare the BB to the Tensei Blue.

Yeah, the BB is soooooooooooooo smooth is breaks my mind a little. Hahaha

I need to hit the RB.

the RB I have here is R flex. But I'm tipping it and throwing it in something.

That could be a ton of fun

I’ll also add, I still think the WB is the best looking driver shaft out there right now. Clean, classic, but with enough pop.

I think it could be crazy fun. If I could find just a Adpat 7w head that could be the ticket. Or like we've talked in the past, maybe throw it in the driver and know I'm going to hit it in the air and stope trying to really crank up on every shot.

they are just classic looking.

I’m glad they went to matte. I’m also glad they didn’t overdo it for the anniversary edition.

It’s identifiable, but just classy fun.

I've had several comments on how cool the weave looks on the Diamana putter shaft. But I'm with you, I like the matte, simple, tried and true graphics they use on the wood shaft line.
