Mitsubishi Diamana WB Shaft Review

This shaft continues to impress me every round out. I've really found my groove with it going to the light weight, x-stiff flex. It's getting me the perfect penetrating ball flight. It's not too low and gets me lots of roll out on these hard So Cal fairways. The feel is so good to me. I never feel "flexing or moving around" in my transition or swing. It doesn't feel too stiff or boardy either. It just feels smooth but powerful. I couldn't be happier with the results I've seen from it paired with the Darkspeed X. And did I mention it looks fantastic!

That is such a great feeling isn't it? When you really find your groove and its just the perfect setup.

It’s such a good feeling to be able to step on the tee and trust it. Just pick a target, swing, and know that even when it’s not perfect it’s still going there! My mishits are still long and in play.

What does still blow my mind is how little I have to do with the swing to feel this shaft work. I came in thinking “oh it’s an X stiff so you have to go at it.” I feel like I get so much out of it swinging 85%.

I cannot say enough good stuff about it.

Been really curious about going lighter weight in my driver so I grabbed one of these to test. Figured if it doesn't work I can sell it somewhere. Went with the 53S. Should be interesting for sure. Looking forward to sharing some feedback in here.

What weight is your current shaft?

I've been in the 60s pretty much since I can remember. Currently in the Velocity D30+ which is listed at 61.

I played the velocity for a bit in my Aerojet. It’s going to be a big change in feel. I’m interested to hear what you think about it

Yeah I don’t expect anything to feel like the Velocity. It is super unique feeling compared to anything I’ve tried before.

Snuck out for a late round and was cruising along smoothly until I caught up to a guy out here giving his girl lessons. I watched him hit 2 low left OB and then he asked if I wanted to play through. I normally don’t hit driver on this file but just had to today.

First off, this just looks so good

I stirred up and pounded it right in the center of the face and drove the green.

I thanked them for letting me play through and heard her say as I drove by “you should ask him for lessons.” Have I mentioned that I love this shaft?! The confidence is flowing with it right now.

The Diamana White Board (WB) has been a game-changer for me. Initially, I approached it as an experiment, a departure from my usual setup, opting for a much lighter shaft at 53g and moving up to X-stiff. To my surprise, it turned out to be exactly what I needed.

Sure, I still have off days. I'm not on tour, so I have my fair share of bad swings. But the WB has been there to keep me on track. The stability it provides acts like a safety net, especially when my transition gets wild and fast. It helps keep the ball in play, which means fewer penalty strokes and lower scores.

And when my swing is on? It’s a thing of beauty. The way the shaft flows seamlessly through the transition, transferring power to the ball, is incredible. Playing in Southern California, I appreciate a lower, more penetrating ball flight that takes full advantage of the conditions and rolls out. The WB delivers exactly that.

My regular playing partners have noticed the difference, too. I now have a confidence with my driver that I’ve never had before. Tight fairway? No problem. Long carry on an aggressive line? I’m going for it.

Since switching to the WB, I've been hitting the center of the face more consistently, driving it longer, and, most importantly, finding more fairways. My fairway percentage has jumped from 43% to 51%, my average score is improving, and my handicap index is creeping back down to its all-time low.

In short, the Diamana White Board has exceeded my expectations. I can confidently say that it’s not coming out of my driver anytime soon.

Todays combo

BB Darkspeed LS combo is definitely easier for me to turn over. But I did hit some drives with this guy that looked like the moved about 1 yard laterally. Just some straight bullets which were kind of fun to see.

Oh I like this shaft. Popped it in to my Smoke Max and proceeded to the range for the better part of a half bucket. Was striping this combo from the jump, hitting balls towards the back of the range, which is always nice. We played the back 9 in league so I only got to hit driver twice (league plays mixed tees). First swing off 10 tee I pushed it a little bit but kept it in the fairway 250+ which gave me a shot at hitting the green in two on a short par 5. 15 I set up to hit it down the left side as I was expecting a fade, but it went dead straight to the left side of the fairway. Not by best swing of the day and still got 230 out of it. I'll take that every time.

Ball flight for me was high but not hatefully high. Didn't see a ton of rollout but they had just over watered I think to prep for the mini heatwave that's supposed to start today. I'm currently playing my 9˚ at +1/N, but may bring that back down a bit as I settle in. I played it at -1/D with the Velocity but these are two very different shafts.

Definitely going to be keeping this one in play for a bit. I expected a significant adjustment period but I'm pretty comfortable with it already. I did play a couple of rounds with a Denali Blue (which so far this shaft trounces for me) so that may have prepped my tiny brain coming off the Velocity.

Another round in on a longer course. Was 8/11 on the day with one miss being through the fairway on the line I picked. Was a humid day and the course was wet so didn't see a ton of distance but got a few into the 250-260 range. I feel like this shaft just wants to be swung fast and performs best when I don't hold much back. Still playing the driver at 10˚ and think I could probably go down some. Hit some really high drives today. Will probable crank it down for my round on Saturday to see how it compares. Standard shot seems to be pretty much straight with a few that fade out some when I really focus on clearing my hips before my shoulders. So far I'm fairly smitten with this shaft, but only 27 holes in. Will get another 18 this weekend weather permitting, another round of league next week, then a golf trip next weekend. If the consistency can hold up I could have a winning combo here.

Found a solid groove with the 53S over a bunch of golf this weekend. I'm back down to playing my Smoke 9˚ at -1/D and am having no issues getting a good high ball flight out of this combo now. Nothing is perfect but I was able to drop into a pretty good rhythm with this setup and saw some really solid distance numbers. Course played more firm than I'm used to but I hit more than one 280+ with a couple in the 290-300 range according to my garmin. My back was kind of locked up for my 9 hole round yesterday though and I did pay the price on a couple of holes. Only one penalty, but this combo does require me to be a bit more aggressive. General shape I'm seeing is straight to a playable fade with the miss being right when I don't do my part. I can force a draw if I have to but have been trying to move to a stock fade and think if I can keep improving my swing that's completely attainable.
