Mizuno JPX925 Hot Metal Irons – Hot Metal, Hot Metal Pro and Hot Metal HL

Oh, and I forgot to add, when I played Tuesday, I was hitting into some soggy greens, but even the six iron which is where I start my iron set was actually stopping right by the ball pitch mark

For those hitting the Hot Metal, can you discuss initial ball flight? I was seeing a nice high launch angle and curious if it’s just me

I can agree on the high launch from the HM. I haven't had a chance to play since I got home from the Victory Cup, but they were launching very high for me while there. Hoping I can get out this weekend and play some. I know I will need to work on flighting the ball some for windy conditions.

You hit one particular glorious high 5i in our morning match that was amazing and really stood out to me. It was deep too, almost reaching a trap that we thought was out of reach. Looks like height will come easy for you with these.

They seem to accommodate that really well for me. 3/4'ish swing and club up one.

Reading your post yesterday makes me feel dumb for not having my lie angles adjusted yet. It's just been a busy month.

You hit one into a par 3, wanna it was an 8i, it had to have gone 120ft in the air. They were definitely launching high.

I only played 3 rounds with the HMP. They are stronger lofted, have more offset and obviously a different construction that what my gamers are. However the adjustment period wasn't long at all. I found them to be about a club longer or so and once I had that down it was easy. What I found interesting was even with the stronger lofts I saw a really nice high ball flight that dropped and landed softly. Never once did I not hold a green I hit.

For me on centered strikes I thought they felt fantastic, never a harsh feeling at all, typical of any Mizuno iron in my experience. On slightly off centered hits is where I noticed the forgiveness and different feel that reminded me what type of iron I was playing.

Hanging on to greens at Briggs isn't always easy either.

As for feel, I agree in comparison to the DPF's I played. A little less responsive off center.

They really surprised me. I do wonder with lighter shafts if the club distance would have been even longer or not. No doubt they are fun and they definitely work as advertised.

You did a big jump between 105MMT and the LZ's

That was a 4 iron which you wouldn't know by the height.

I've played those exact LZ's before so they are pretty familiar for me, didn't really have any issues outside of few swings on the range.

I made a comment to JB that the 5i is my new favorite. It gets up easy and has a nice apex. I hit a decent shot into a par 3 at Briggs Ranch with it and I had zero problems holding the green. I hit it again on a par 5 layup and might have started to walk back to the cart because it was gonna be good. I don’t usually do the early walk with a 5i but the tech made it an easier club for me to hit. 5i used to be a questionable club for me.

Toe forgiveness is a real thing with these. 2 shots in particular today - an 8i and then with a PW. Lower ball flight with those particular toe shots, but both delivered the expected distance and held the green.

Looking back on the round, I hit greens with 5i, 6i, 7i, 8i, PW, GW, so today was a good test up and down the set.

Most have a slight draw but I was able to dial up a fade on one particular shot when needed. Really enjoying them so far.

Divots are much smaller than usual for me.

Can’t wait for next round on Sunday.

I am excited to get mine. I need all of the forgiveness i can get! Mine arrive Monday!

Having seen a lot of people hit these now, the spin consistency vs some of their competitors has been pretty impressive in this lineup. And it's cool to see those numbers staying tight give players who move it around the face some confidence.

Did a little testing today and here are the results. It wasn't the best ball striking morning for me, but I also haven't hit off a mat in awhile.

My setup - Bushnell Launch Pro with a SIGPRO Softy Hitting mat.

PW is my 125-130 yard club
8 iron is my 155-160 yard club (the 1st ball with the 925HM was my best strike of the day 168 yard carry and 98ft high. I only hit 2 925HM PW that high) I can't wait to get outside and hit these more.

Test Results - I was going to hit 4 & 6 to add but wanted to give myself a break before that (I hit 15 shots with each club and took the 10 best):

Sweet set up! I like that the spin is still really playable despite being a good deal longer. They definitely did some voodoo with the 925s.

LOVE the setup man. Awesome data on the clubs as well.

Played for the first time since the Victory Cup today. I don't think I have ever hit my irons better.

A couple shots that really stood out. One was after a bad drive on a par 4. Had just under 200 in and absolutely pured a 6i. Landed on the green, and not only did it hold the green, it was one hop and stick maybe 3 feet past the divot.

Had another 8i into the wind where I really caught one off the toe. Held the line the whole time and sat perfectly on the front of the green without losing much distance at all.

Got to give the Gap Wedge a decent amount of work today as well and was really impressed with it. Full swings are obviously fantastic, but hit some in-between shots that ended up perfect with great spin.

I can't say enough about how impressed I am with these irons. New all time personal best 84 today!

I went to the driving range today to get a handle on distances (via TopTracer) for the new JPX925HMP clubs vs. my previous set of Taylormade Stealths. I hit 10 shots with each club. 9i-LW showed +10 yards avg. for each of them. 6i-8i were about the same on average as the TM's, but a pure shot was definitely +5yrds or more. And just as Vosh predicted, my Fli-Hi hybrids were a bit shorter than my similar lofted fairway woods.

What I really noticed is the forgiveness with off-center hits. A toe strike still manages to fly straight with only a little loss of distance, vs. a weak/slappy shot on the toe of my TM's. I'm still in the "getting to know you" phase, so I expect to see better results as I get more consistent with them.

Another round in on Sunday with the HMP with DG105 300S. I just wanted to comment on the height/ball flight as it really stood out for me. I typically have a lower flight, but these are producing a distinguishable increase in height (compared to JPX919 Forged with Recoil 95 F4), which I needed. No hard data to prove, just an observation so far.

Great data capture! Love seeing the spin be so close considering the difference in loft
