Kiddo took a spill yesterday and needed to go see the doctor so this got delayed till today...range time in less than an hour so some results this afternoon

Moe Trackman time! Which means I have gathered some more data. I am going to split this up a little, but this post will be centered around full vs knockdown shots for me.

To start we need to define what I call a knockdown shot. I'm typically trying to take roughly 10 yards off the carry and have it flight lower with less spin. I use it a lot into the wind and if I need a little security blanket type of shot. I narrow my stance a bit and feel it as a "10 o'clock" backswing which is why you'll see some groups tagged 10-2.

How this was measured:
-7 shots each group (because I had 7 RCT balls with me, so it was easy to know when to switch)
-No shots eliminated
-Worked my way from Gap wedge up to 7 iron. I don't try and hit this shot with anything 6 or higher.

There will be a lot of screenshots so I'll leave those for the bottom. I feel like this test does a great job of showing off the versatility of these irons. Yes, we have all covered how high of flight you can get and how these can scream with some huge ball speeds, but they also have the workability factor to come out lower with a little less spin and provide some different shots. I find this type of shot to sometimes be more controllable, which is why I'll turn to it if pressure is on. Funny enough today my dispersion circles are wider with the knockdown shot which I would normally think the opposite to be true for me.

The gap wedge will be the tightest between the 2 groupings because I don't normally hit a "full" shot with it. I'll 99.999% of the time be hitting this knockdown 10-2 type of shot, but you will see the different in launch angle being lower, and spin being knocked down a bit, which in turn brings the height down 13 feet.

As we work our way up the bag the difference becomes a little more in the distances. What I find interesting, in a good way, is that the heights are all consistent with one another. My full shots all range in the 90-100 feet window and my knockdowns are all in the 70's for feet. Really cool consistency club to club.

And for my 2nd post let's talk about the irons distance dispersion as a whole.

Before I dive into that, I know RCT vs non-RCT balls can be a hot topic online. I'm a firm believer in using them on Trackman whenever you can because there be some discrepancies in both more or less spin. I have tested on the same Trackman 3 times with these and I made a little chart comparing spin from the first 2 times without RCT and today with. I put N/A in a few spots where I did not collect data for those clubs on that particular day.

Are they life altering differences? Not totally, but heck, figured worth sharing...now onto club data

Similar to my post above I hit 7 shots with each club because I had 7 balls, so no "bad shots" were taken away. I will say I hit my 4 iron like a piece of crud today. I don't think I hit 1 good shot. I tried a couple of different times during my session and couldn't make any decent contact.

I am really pleased with how this looks. The circles are right on top of one another and providing me good gapping throughout the bag. Obviously, we are missing a circle connecting my 5 iron to the hybrid in my bad (actually a Callaway UW). I will be putting a hybrid in that spot to test to see if I can achieve some better height and more consistent results. I've had a few sessions where the height hasn't been at the same level as the rest of the irons and today was just a bad day!

Consistent heights across the board, really shows off the power and height these irons create in the top end of the bag...and pretty effortlessly. I am still really enjoying the feel and feedback I get with these, although I haven't swung anything different side by side in a bit I would be curious how they'd feel back to back with other options on the market.

I am pleased with the landing angles as well, everything 6 iron and down being at or above 45 degrees is right where I want to be.

Obviously, these shine when it comes to ball speed and smash factor, but I love how when we get to the lower irons and wedges they aren't just all power, they have finesse which I showed off in the full versus knockdown post above this one.

Fun round today with the 925HM irons. I had a few mistakes in the iron game today but I still had opportunity at the green when I found the ball. I know a few of us love the set GW and today I made two sweet shots with it. I used the GW to pitch up from 50 yards out to 3 feet. The ball control with that club is really good and easy to do. My other shot which i thought had zero chance of getting on the green was from the edge of a bunker.I hit a draw off the tee and it just clipped the right side of a FW bunker but popped out and stopped about 4 inches from the sand On the edge in the grass. I had no stance and I was 114 out from the pin. I managed to get the face on the ball with clean contact and hit a high straight ball that landed 5 yards on the green and left me a 12 foot birdie look. I love hitting these irons and the results they give me.

Not a lot of iron work today but we did use the set GW to work on some 50-80 knockdown shots. The GW works so well for so many things it is a true weapon in the bag. We focused on the ball position when i was setting up. I needed to move it back in my stance and make sure i still made a good turn. I was dropping balls on a little green that was 80 yards out. It was freezing out today.

I'm right there with you being really impressed by the versatility of the gap wedge...really is able to hit a lot of different shots and still give you control

Looking good!

I need to commit to doing this shot more on course and spending time on the range dialing it in.

I hit a lot of knockdown or half type shots with both the G and P and these perform very well in that category

I have watched @Wildcat use this type of shot for a long time with huge success. There is a reason you both are low caps because you can do shots like that and control it!

Consistent knock down shots have lowered my handicap the most.

They make a huge difference when you can hone in on the distance control

I’m glad that these irons work for these shots. Hope the Pros are consistent for me

Did a little arts and crafts project. Actually, my daughter executed and I supervised. I much prefer white paintfill over the naked black numbers. I am liking how these came out. Here’s a before/after:

Playing this Friday, and then a few rounds 1/27-1/29. Can’t wait to hit these again. And to see the sun again. That will be nice too.

I'm jealous!

We got around 9" of snow last week and it's supposed to be single digits next week. Been dying to swing a club, but there's only a few simulators in town and they've been booked up with the crappy weather. Might have to sneak out of work early or something and try to snag an hour or two.

Can we get an update on the irons from

@RVS1970 @ammac @jshaw

Thank you
Yes! I’m dying to get some new updates in. Baby boy came end of November and haven’t had any rounds with them since then… but over 50 degrees on Friday and have 9 holes on the books.

Outside of that, some garage work and sim rounds mixed in and still loving these. Not getting out to play, but just getting drills and practice in actually has my swing feeling really, really good right now. Excited to get them back into use on Friday and report back with some more updates from the course.

Congrats on the baby boy!

Those kids will take that golf time away! Congrats my man! Can’t wait to hear how the sticks treat you during new fatherhood

Haha for sure! All that extra forgiveness across the face will be much appreciated. Looking forward to getting back out and getting them in play.

Decided to switch things up and played my old 923 Hot Metal HLs the last couple of rounds. It has me pretty excited to hit the 925s again. I plan to do an iron and wedge fitting when the temps warm up a bit and I feel like there's a good chance the 925s end up in the bag. I would have said the standard Hot Metals would be best, but I'm hitting the 923 HLs so well that I'm not so sure anymore. I'm really curious about how they'll compare, since the 925 HMs had pretty decent launch when I hit them. Either way, I can't wait to hit them again.
