Mizuno M Craft Putter Review

I'm not a deep mill guy at all, but I do support the execution by Mizuno here.

When I watched the video, i found myself going back to the sound a lot and you know I'm not a big sound guy. I think the main question is were you draining those putts lol

What two do you have?
I don’t have 2 I have the #2 model with the plumbers neck. It’s a fantastic putter. The sound and black ion finish are amazing. I’ll have to go look at another one in store to see if the face looks the same as mine. It’s not something I noticed at the PGA show back in January when I was rolling them but it was apparent right out of the box.

it's the internet. Of course I make every putt.

Nice! I like the blue. No lefty though? I'd almost be willing to putt right handed. I couldn't putt any worse than I already do.:ROFLMAO:

And those mini Mizuno bags are

I put my new M Craft 1 on the bench a couple days ago. I love it inside 12', especially on really fast greens, but in 2 weeks of regular play I had more 3 putts with it than all the rest of 2020. Serious distance control issues for me on longer putts and it jammed me up a few times. Not giving up on it, I'm back with the dead insert for our trip and I'll see if I can sort it out after. When I switched back on Wed. I didn't miss the sound.

simple informative video, I love those. Curious if there is any noticeable sound/feel difference when trying the different finishes

Have the M-craft II back in the bag for todays round

Really enjoyed this putter in yesterday’s round. I’m still not a fan of the grip (easy fix) but the sound is so so good. I do like the darker black ion finish as well, will be interested to see if they come out with any different shapes or stick to the 3 they have now.

Need to get some time in with the M Craft 1 this coming week and really evaluate. Switched back to my old putter and man did my putting (and stats) even right back out over the last few rounds. With the specs being basically the same between them it has to be a feel thing.

M Craft 1 is a no go for me. Put it back in play and my overall make %, and individual distance make percentages from 7', 10', and 30+ all went back down pretty quickly with no individual distance % on the rise, unless you count 3 putts from 30+. It has the exact same weight, balance, hand, grip, and everything of my old one, so I must just not jive with the feel of the head or the slight difference in look. Either way, moving on. Shame.

Interesting. Putter lie has never bothered me. I'm slightly toe up on all of them, because my hands are low relative to my distance from the ball. I bent it flatter when I first got it, but it looked so foreign to me that I put it back closer to standard. And I prefer a little toe up for the occasional sloped lie peace of mind.

I’m not sure about mine when I got it I took in trade and my hands play low to but my toe was way up more than I like I still have a slight toe up had to bring it down 2 * after that is very auto on those dreaded 2 footer lol and I’m a mallet guy still gave my favorite ten but the craft 2 has been sweet for me , I have a couple of the better older scotties with no weights and I think the m craft has that sweet feeling they do but easier because heavier

I also put a odyssey shaft in it the new ones with the stroke lab tech but it felt great how it was but I do like the feel of the shaft now

I rolled the M Craft II at my Trackman putter fitting this weekend. I have to say it felt better than Scotty's, the PING Heppler line, or EVNROLL. But the EVNROLL grooves were launching with better skid/roll numbers and the mishits seemed to finish closer to the hole. The feel and look of this Mizuno line along with the added value of the weight kit make these hard to look past. The Scotty Squareback performed a bit better than the M Craft in the fitting but I don't think I would be able to pay more for a worse feeling putter that is very similar overall.

Has anyone tried the new models? Specifically the V? Jman posted pictures & it looks really good!

I finally had the M Craft III out on the course! What a smooth roller! Loved every bit of the putter! Putts great on carpet and even better on the green!

I just ordered a III about an hour ago. I went to go test a bunch if putters today and tried to talk myself out of the III, but you can't argue with the performance of this thing. Can't wait to get I out on the course.

It is the right feel off the face with golf ball - I used Oncore ELIXR (tester) and a PRO v1x (regular ball)

Anybody know if the lie angle on the M3 can be adjusted? Local shop has a used one calling to me.

I still want a II

Time to blow the dust off this review thread and provide some of my own insight about the Mizuno M Craft II putter.

I've been gaming this putter since mid-May 2024 and though I've posted about the All-In shaft that is in it in that thread, I wanted to provide some feedback on the M-Craft.

First Impressions and Looks
I was intrigued by this putter for a few reasons. I was looking for something in the blade category with a full sight line. I had been gaming a Ping PLD with no sight lines at all, and wanted something different to re-adjust my aim.

The fact there are 3 different finish options for each style is impressive. Adding in to Mizuno's line of thinking where Custom is Everything. I love the roundness of the top line and bumpers. I have always enjoyed Anser style putters, but some can get too boxy looking for me. The roundness of the lines help encourage the natural arc I have with this putter.

Added in the pure custom aspect of getting different weights included at no charge. Plenty of companies offer weights to customize the feel, but not all of them do it for free. I think this is a great way for Mizuno to set themselves apart.

I elected for the Black Ion II which compliments the All-In shaft quite nicely.

Feel and Roll
The deep milled 1025 carbon steel has an extremely soft and responsive feel to me. I've never been a huge fan of most inserts, and typically have always enjoyed a milled face. I find I get more feedback off the face, and has always helped me dial in my speed easier. This putter has delivered from the jump where I can play a firmer ball for the other parts of my game, but not give up in the feel aspect of putting.

"Nothing feels like a Mizuno" is a phrase we see and hear often with their iron line, but I feel like it blends into their putter line as well. And when you're known in the industry for iron feel, you really have to hammer it home in the putter line as well. I'd be curious to see how different finishes feel and react to one another, but the Black Ion has a feeling I really love.

The roll and centeredness of contact have been amazing with this putter. If you want to factor in the All-In shaft to that equation I wouldn't blame you, but the roll has been true. It has allowed me to gain confidence, especially within 8 feet that if I execute a good stroke, the roll will be there and I'm going to give myself a good chance at making it.

I did not have to play with the loft of this putter as it was really good out of the gate for me, but it does bend quite easily if needed.

On Course Impacts
I have seen my strokes gained putting improve about a full 2 strokes since this putter has gone into the bag. My make rate from 3-4 feet (95%) and 9-10 feet (62%) have been better than average. I have also seen a big uptick in putting from 20-30 feet. My 3 putt rate has dropped and I have seen more of those long range putts find the cup.

For me this comes back to consistency of the roll off the face. Even on some off center hits I am getting consistent speed. Consistency in speed will always lead to successful putting.

Conclusion
I mentioned Mizuno irons earlier, and many people simply know them for their irons and not much else. I've tested the ball and multiple woods this year, and all of them including this putter have left me surprised in a good way.

I'll never stand here and say you should 100% play a Mizuno (or any) product. BUT, I think you're missing out if you aren't giving it a fair chance. It will most likely exceed your expectations you have going in. And Mizuno will provide you with a quality product they stand behind. They haven't updated the M Craft II since 2020, but that's because it stills up in 2024. If they feel they have a legitimate reason to update it that will benefit the player or consumer, then they will update it. But I appreciate how they don't just throw out something made up in order to release a new product.

Crazy that these are 4 years old now..

I have a couple of M-Crafts I absolutely love. But I have been fighting the yips all year, and the Lean Lock is taking care of business for me. I try to get the MCrafts back in the bag because I lag with them better, but that 8' in stuff is automatic with the lean lock.,
