Mizuno ST-G Titanium Fairway Woods

3 wood has finally arrived and I got to hit it and play around with the settings today. 3 wood is a club I haven't really loved since my 910 Fd I had long ago. Although, I do not hit this club from the deck often, I've been looking to find that best of both world club I can use off the tee and when needed from the deck.

My ST-G has a Kai'li 70X in it. I started in the standard setting and quickly found myself knocking some loft off just to lower the window a little bit. I like more of a penetrating flight on a well struck 3 wood. I did my adjusting today without my monitor so I could go off of the look of the flight and feels I was getting.

After trying -2 and -1 I settled into -1 Upright. It let the ball turn over a little and eliminated any bad right miss I would feel. It looked perfect at this setting on the ground.

Something about the face felt really really good. Almost the feel I would expect from a forged iron, like I could really feel that ball stick and jump off of it. And the sound to go along with it was SOLID. Not loud and pingy at all but just musted and solid. It matched the strong feeling I got off of the face.

Extremely pleased first time around and plan on using it on course later this week.

It's been a game changer for me. It's why I won't look at a mini driver because the performance I get from this is a mini driver situation. I hope you see the same performance!

Part of hearing people's experiences be similar to that is what helped me jump into this and get away from the Mini Driver...seems like I can get a lot of that performance off the tee, while still getting the benefit off the deck

Putting in more work with my 3 wood and loving it. It feels like it has a lot of zip. I don't know if this will make sense, but I feel like when I hit it, the ball is further down range then where I'm used to looking, almost like it has more pop coming off.

-1U is the spot for me. Lowers the launch just a touch, but the upright helps take right out of play. Excited to keep working with this and taking it out on the course more.

Here's a couple of swings: 1st one is a mid height shot I like to hit off of tees, and the 2nd one is a nice high shot. I like how I'm feeling like I can do ANYTHING with this club. And like I said it feels quick off the face.

Yes, this makes sense to me. These FW’s are hot! The ball jumps off that titanium face.

Extremely hot- ball just feels like it rockets off the face.

Tried it off the tee this weekend where I typically have no success- 1 out of 2, so there's a sign of life for it to play, but still not fully confident in any 3W off the tee.

Thought about trying a 5w? I didn't have any success with a 3w over the last few years but the ST-Z 5w has been really good and the extra loft helps me get a little elevation that I couldn't get with a 3w.

Not really- pulled the last 5W I had in favor of the Fli-Hi as their yardages were almost exactly the same and I got along better with the Fli Hi in more situations.

I see where Mizuno put these on sale for $180.00.
Be a fun experiment

At Mizuno's website, and other retailers, I see the ST-G fairway woods listed at $399 price.

Cannot recommend to anyone this wood for either a 3 or a 5. It's the best fairway wood I've ever owned. I've converted 5 other people into buying it with conversations that go similar to this:

Them: I can't hit fairway woods to save my life
Me: Try this. just move it up in your stance a bit
Them post hit: Do I need to do this online or can I get it in stores?

I was playing in a scramble last Friday. The hole in question is a dogleg that turns right around a large pond that plays . There are tall trees along the right side of the fairway that are too tall to carry from the tee box. The safe shot is to hit a ball about 210 out into the fairway and leave yourself a 9 iron into the green.

Two of our foursome sliced their tee balls into the pond. My cousin, who is a pretty good player, hit a long iron out into the fairway, giving us a decent chance to hit a short iron into the green, which gave me a chance to go for it.

I called my shot, telling my partners that I would take the 3 wood and try to hit a little fade out and around the pond, leaving us with a short wedge shot into the green. By golly, I pulled it off. The flight looked perfect, with just a 5 yard fade.

Everyone else missed the green, leaving me no choice but to play it safe into the center of the green. We parred the hole, but man, I felt good about that tee shot. I absolutely love this 3 wood. I can’t believe that the prices have been slashed.

For the titanium ST-G? Man, that is a steal.
Gotta be honest - Based on all of the comments and the fact that I use my 3w off the the tee when I use it, I'm really interested in the "G" in a 3 wood at this price.

You should be. That titanium face is special. Ball screams off of it.

And done - For whatever reason, on only DSG and GG had it for $179 - everyone else was $249
So somewhere there is a mistake made - PGTSS is not even offering it at $179 anymore.

Gotta give it a try...it really has a ton of zip coming off the face...hit some 150 ball speeds last night with it

It’s the best fairway wood available at that price. Mine may be the best 3 wood I have ever hit.

Just ordered the 3W with UST LINQ Red. Couldn’t pass up that price.
