I play guitar albeit poorly as far as I'm concerned. I play some AIC, The Tragically Hip, CCR, Gordon Lightfoot, and others. My first guitar was a 6 string Squire by Fender and I have a Simon & Patrick 12 string.

I'm 59 played guitar since I was 8. I have played in a lot of different bands, quit for 5 years at a time one time for 10 years, done solo gigs with just an acoustic, mostly classic rock and blues, some light jazz. Did my last bar tour 3 years ago and quit again. The last band started out as just something to do in the winter and do a few fundraisers for free and 3 years later we did 150 jobs in one year. Killed my golf game and I was burned out all the time. Can't take the hours anymore. I was thinking of retiring from my company and playing again but don't see that happining for at least 5 years. Way to many other projects.

i have been playing guitar for about 12 years now. i was in a few bands after high school, but nothing really serious. i mostly just jam along with my itunes now. i kind of took a few steps back and am trying to go back and work on a lot of fundamentals like scales and sweeps now to build up my skills a little better. i just bought a PRS SE singlecut and i absolutely love it. One of these days im gonna get the actual PRS but i just can't justify 3 grand on a guitar. especially when golf eats up most of my spending money!!

Any musicians here?

Any musicians here?

Tommorrow I'l be going to my buds studio to do some recording and mixing. He recently bought a new mac, interface, mics, and Studio One Pro V2 software.

I'm eager to check all this stuff out. We'll be rockin' for a good 12hrs.

I want to tell him about Reaper but since he just bought Studio One I probably won't. LOL.

Merged with an existing thread.

Whoa, didn't know this thread was here.

Studio One Pro V2 is really cool....I can see why the buzz around it. But I'll stick with Reaper as it can do 99% of what Studio One can do but for a LOT less money.

But a new 27" iMac is SMOKIN' LOL.

Can we not upload pics from our drives to this board?

Rockstars out there?

Rockstars out there?

Does anyone else on here play/sing in a band? Ive been playing bass for over 10 years. My band finally realeased its first album after a lot of time, money and hard work. If you are in a band, feel free to post up a youtube link or website. Lets see the hacker rockstars!

I used to play bass in a blues band called Cheap Shelter when I was in College. I looked around and found a link to a couple of our live songs: http://www.myspace.com/cheapshelter

I still play the guitar and bass on and off.

Good luck with your musical endeavors!

I have been playing electric guitar seriously for almost 11 years. Here are a couple of my guitars, they are both Gibson Les Pauls and I have never played anything better. I also have used Marshall and Blackstar amplification as well as the occasional Vox tube amp.

I used to play drums, but I have done that for close to 4 years. Now I just create all my music digitally. Reason, Midi keyboard, and an mpd.

Anyone have the ability to record at home?

I'm a classically trained oboist who moved into the pro audio side of things (recording studio work, ex rock n roll roadie, now design systems installed in stadiums/arenas). I also put myself through college playing keyboards in an all girl band in the early 80s (part Go-Gos, part Joan Jett) Still kick myself for selling my synths

I'm a classically trained Cellist that used to play competitively, then I found the Electric guitar and have been playing that forever, I'm currently on staff at one of the largest churches in the area as their band director, lots of fun.

Here's a video of me messing around with one of my many Les Pauls. It's kind of a crappy recording but hey it's fun

I've got a little music setup I'm putting in my garage. Just moved so it's still a work in progress but getting there:

I've been playing guitar for a while now. I played in a couple of bands in high school and college, one a pretty generic alt rock band and the other a sorta jam/rock/funk band (but we liked to cover old rap songs for whatever reason). I'm not in a band now, and mostly just play my acoustic guitar around the house. I can dabble on bass and drums, but am not particularly skilled there. I'm also on the market for a 6-string banjo...

Anyone have the ability to record at home?

I've got a bunch of stuff, and had a small "studio" set up in my house a few years back, but it's not been used since I started golfing...:D

Anyone have the ability to record at home?

I have a pretty decent Pro Tools rig at home. Although, i do more mixing on it than tracking...

Guitar Players!
I have decided I want to learn to play the guitar. Problem is I know nothing about the guitar really. I am planning on selling my saxophone to buy one so my budges is around 300 tops. Anybody know any good guitars for that price? I would like a electirc/acoustic hybrid thing. I suppose I need to buy an amp then too for the electric side of things right? I have been browsing clist but I don't know what to look for. If someone could browse through GR Craigslist and tell me what would be a good one for me that would be great! http://grandrapids.craigslist.org/

Most Standard Mexican Fender guitars go for about 400 new so i bet you can find a used one for about half of that. Here's the story, I've been playing guitar for about 15 years, I don't play professionally yet but my handicap index if you say is a 3 if that makes sense so in other words I know a lot about guitars. Per week I spend at least 15-20 hours playing and practicing by the way since I'm one of the staff members of the music department at a church in town.

Anyways, what I would recommend is to also look into some epiphone les pauls, they cost about 600 new and you can find them for about half of that used.

If possible save up for a nice tube amp. Most solid state amps sound like crap if you ask me, look into the small wattage tube amps, most of the large companies carry a few. I would recommend looking at blackstar amplification, they sound great, are all tube amps and the small wattage models such as the 1 watt and 5 watt amps are very affordable. In my experience, you get what you pay for so please don't buy chinese-just like golf clubs, there quality is a bit low. . . feel free to PM me about any of these suggestions. I can steer you in the right direction and save you the trouble of buying crap!!! it happens and it sucks!! If you see anything you like send me a picture via PM and I can say yay or nay lol.

BTW I own a few Gibson Les Pauls and a few amps (Marshall, Vox, Blackstar, Fender etc. . . ) and most guitarists will tell you that tube amps are the way to go but they are usually more expensive.

Electric guitars

This one is worth looking at
http://grandrapids.craigslist.org/msg/3252246995.html

This may be a good pair with the guitar above, I'm not sure if it's a tube amp or not but Randall is a decent company for the money
http://grandrapids.craigslist.org/msg/3278838174.html

If you can justify the money, this one is worth it, you get what you pay for and Gibson is usually top notch
http://grandrapids.craigslist.org/msg/3266572772.html

This guitar is alright, might be worth trying it out
http://grandrapids.craigslist.org/msg/3277574127.html

This is another low line epiphone
http://grandrapids.craigslist.org/msg/3276906467.html

decent practice amp
http://grandrapids.craigslist.org/msg/3275478559.html

Also if you spend a little more that your budget, don't feel bad, think about this I own 3 les pauls, each one was at least 2500, and each one of my tube amps was at least 600 plus everything I've spent on my stage set up so it's nothing hana

Acoustic Electric Guitars

as far as acoustic electric guitars, if you can justify the extra cash, these Taylors are worth it no need for an amp unless you plan to play for a huge crowd one day

http://grandrapids.craigslist.org/msg/3276283391.html

This is a good deal for all the stuff
http://grandrapids.craigslist.org/msg/3158656414.html

This might be a good guitar, ask for pictures, Ibanez makes some decent stuff

I started playing cello about two years ago, at the age of 44. I really, really suck, but there's not a more beautiful instrument in the world, so I'm determined to keep at it.

In my mind, there's very few songs in this world that can't benefit from a well-written cello part, so I'm determined to learn to play well enough to bring some cello to more popular music.
