My home course Carolina lakes on Shaw AFB

Here's my home course.
It's been blistering hot. The course is not in bad shape. Well, the greens aren't great but the rest of the course is decent.
It was pretty hot so I was trying to get done with my round pretty quick. I didn't take that many pictures but I was able to play in 2 and 1/2 hours.
I enjoy golfing here. Very cool place where I I get to see Jets flying overhead while playing. Some people don't like the noise but it sounds like freedom to me

Plus when I'm done I can always go over to the base gas station. They have a walk-in cooler which feels amazing after golfing in the heat Plus they always have some interesting drinks..

And they have a driving range That's open 24/7 which is nice. Golf is super cheap here , especially when it's hot. It was under 20 bucks today with a cart

Love it! I grew up playing an AFB course, sad I can't get on them anymore.

Cool...in S. Carolina I presume? I play on a couple courses one on base at JBLM (McChord) and another off base. They have fancier pro shops but not as tempting beer selections.

Nice looking facility. Military base courses are some of the best kept secrets around. We used to play Marine Memorial (MCB Camp Pendleton), General Old (March AFB), and Admiral Baker (USN San Diego), and have also played Sea N' Air (NASNI/Coronado), where the jets took off and landed virtually right over your head. Always enjoyed those courses, and they were always in good to great condition.

My golf cart came off of Barksdale AFB when they closed their course down. Sadly I never played it but I imagine watching the B52s rumble over was pretty cool

Sea N' Air on North Island was literally right at the end of the runway, you got a close up look at them and it got really loud on those holes!

It is a little cheaper for active duty and retirees but it's still very reasonable. I think civilians it was like $34 or similar.

that is one heck of a deal and it looks to be in decent shape.

They have water coolers also. Great deal. We have our goat track muni up here charging $30 on weekends and $20 during the week and there are mounds of dirt on the greens.

Mere Creek golf course is at the old Brunswick Naval Air Station in Brunswick, ME............would have been great to play there when it was an active base.
Pease golf course is at the old Pease Air Force base in Newington, NH..........same thing, would have been great to play there when it was active.

Miss golfing on military bases. Was stationed at NAS Pensacola once upon a time. Home of the Blue Angels. There were days you would get to play a great course and get an air shoe as they would be practicing.

How is Shaw as a duty station? I miss playing USAF bases, need to do it again

It was decent back in the day. I'm retired now so I only go there to golf normally
It's a small base but They fly F 16's and the MQ-9 Reaper
My friend is a CMSgt there, I need to get a tour before I retire
Definitely, lets link up in the future and play some base courses

I play at Ft Jackson in Columbia...worth the ~40 minute drive. 36 holes, multiple practice facilities.
