Need some help figuring out what this is?

A neighbor gave me a lot of golf stuff from her husband that recently passed. Along with shafts, clubs and grips there were 3 of these in the mix. I cannot figure out what it is and would be extremely grateful if someone could provide some input.

Looks like a cane for a blind person.

I think I saw it on the golf channel a couple years ago.

I think it was designed to hook rattlers in the desert by a blind man while putting his ball in like a pool cue?

Or blind sheep herding? Dunno.

I've seen something similar being used on miniature golf putting greens. A little flag was at the top where the hook is. The hook was the handle to grip it with.

If it had screw threads at the other end, and is about 3' foot long that might be what it is, or was.

I'd use them for practice alignment aids if nothing else.
