Hi,
New to this forum. I am overwhelmed by all the ads for resorts in Arizona. Where does a mediocre golfer go to find a resort that is a good deal but not extravagant. I would like someplace where my wife and I can enjoy while I am not playing golf. Also looking for packages that might include greens fees and instruction. Anybody?

What city are you looking for Phx, Scottsdale or southern AZ like Tucson?

Welcome to THP! I'll also be watching this thread to see about resorts.

Welcome aboard! @Doubleb21 and his posse can help you you.

I would recommend the Four Seasons in Phoenix (Troon North) and the Hyatt Regency at Gainey Ranch.

The JW Marriott Resort is a pretty nice destination. Great golf, fantastic food, spa, etc. Talking Stick is another one with the Casino right there, Top Golf and 2 golf courses. Of the two, Talking Stick might be a little less heavy on the wallet. But there are a TON of nice resorts in the PHX/Scottsdale area. It all depends on what you're willing to spend.

Please understand that I am VERY BIASED in my assessment but I would go to Tucson, AZ and stay at the Casino Del Sol Resort. Very affordable and every bit as nice as the casinos in Phoenix.

The Resort offers:

Successive five-time recipient of a AAA Four-Diamond rating, and TripAdvisor’s Certificate of Excellence Hotel
Four Diamond rated Spa and Steakhouse
Just 15 minutes from Tucson International Airport and downtown Tucson

As far as the golf course goes, in my opinion Sewailo is one of the best in Tucson. But you can ask other THPers here.

As far as other things to do in Tucson, it would depend on the time of the year. I will agree that there are not as many events and things to do as Phoenix. Of course winter is the perfect time of year.

If you need any additional info, just ask. If you decide this may be your ultimate destination......PM me for sure.

Tons of good choices, and much will depend on the time of year and your budget. I got to play both We Ko Pa golf courses this year and thought they were just outstanding!

Well there is a ton to do all over you will have plenty of choices! In Tucson like @Wildcat4life for life said you have Casino Del Sol and we have Starr Pass ,Loews Ventana Canyon ,La Paloma, Omni National all nice resorts with fantastic golf.

Phx and Scottsdale area have so many choices it is insane. I have only been to the Biltmore and the Kierland Westin which both were outstanding. The Kielrand Westin was right next to a huge outdoor shopping area filled with great restaurants and was close to the heart of Scottsdale.

I am sure some of the Phx guys will jump in and five you some other choices also!

I have lived in the Valley (Phoenix) for the past 2 decades and just recently left for a new career in Dallas. This time of year is peak golfing season there. My favorite muni course is Dobson Ranch in Mesa. Its always $50 or less and there isnt any desert on the course. Almost any or them in Scottsdale are good but can be $$$. If you are wanting other stuff to do. Take a trip to Prescott/Sedona/Jerome. Real nice this time of year also.

But if you dont want to mess your clubs up hitting out or the desert. Get a used beater club to use when hitting from the desert.

Canoa ranch golf resort, Green Valley, AZ. 25 miles south of Tucson international and 5 great courses within. 10 mile radius ranging in price. Check out Tubac golf resort as well. There are also lots of rentals in the area as our city fills up with snow birds in the winter time, everything from condos and villas to 3,000sq for homes. Good luck.

Following. My wife and I are going to make a trip at the end of January or middle February. She is not a golfer so spa resort would be great.

Best Price/Quality combo?

Wild Horse Pass in Chandler, with Whirlwind Golf Club (Cattails and Devils Claw) courses.
