I am going to play today. Hard to believe it's May though. I will be dressed for mid-February, lol. About 20 minutes ago we had a bit of a snow burst.
I know right!? But have fun! At least the sun is shining which makes it better

I guess the NH folks didn't want to self-Quarantine for 14 days.... must've missed the signs....

The wind was crazy. Even with the brake on, the wind still pushed my cart, lol. Into the wind I took three more clubs. It snowed on and off on the front nine. Hard to believe it's May. Glad to be out playing again, so no complaints. :)

Those of you that played today are much tougher than I am. I decided it was going to be too cold and bailed.

I played Sandy Burr yesterday in Wayland and it was in decent condition the greens were actually pretty good. The course wasn’t too wet. We got around in 4:05 as a 4some. I did have to pay attention a few times to not get too close to people because your old habits put you close to people when you leave your clubs to go to the next tee.

I am not sure what the tee time gaps are but we got around the course in 4:10. The group in front of us was a hole plus behind the group in front of them.

I did putt the whole round with my 50* wedge. All my putters are in my office. I had put my gamer next to the door of my office and I was scrambling to get out of the house and forgot it. I don’t think it really hurt me that much though I think I only had 1 3 putt and made a couple of 10 footers.

I may try to get a last minute tee time tomorrow afternoon. My wife is out of town and my mom lives in FL so I don’t have any commitments.

We were lucky (Connecticut) that our state never fully closed golf courses during the entire pandemic. I’ve played about 6 rounds since January. Not saying they weren’t cold but like you, I’m just happy to have been playing these past few months!

Kinda puts things in perspective too...things we have taken for granted turn out to be very special. :)

The only golf I have ever played in CT is CT National in Putnam. Great course. I just wish it was closer.

I’m new to the state and definitely trying to find good golf near me but that’s 1.5 hr drive from me. Maybe I’ll take a day trip up there if I have some extra time this summer.

Yeah, that is a bit of a haul for you. It takes me almost the same amount of time to get to CT Nat'l. But, I am sure there are plenty of nice courses in your area.

Played in 2:30 with @mpeterson today - teed off in the snow ended in the sunshine and wind.

course started to fill up later in the day - conditions were 💯

love this no carts thing

The best ones are private but there are some decent public available. Yale (private) is high on my list but it seems there’s ways to getting on without being a member.

I’m just excited to get to know a new area and the courses around here. Bethpage is one I also want to drive to this year.

I have heard good things about Yale, and Bethpage would be a great day of golf. That is about 4.5 hours from me, lol.

Right now With no traffic I’m only an hour and 20 from bethpage which is great. Hopefully I’ll have a chance to go play it in the next few months

Looked back yesterday and saw my pushcart flying across the fairway, ended up over 100 yards away in another fairway. Lol.

Haven't been out yet but have a few times booked this coming week, including the above mentioned CTN on Saturday. Was supposed to play Green Hill in Worcester in another week or so, but guess the mayor has determined they can't open yet. The courses I've talked to seem to be adhering to the no carts requirement but wondering how long that lasts. Supposedly Kettle Brook was still planning to charge for carts on the weekend but I noticed they removed the info about carts on their tee time page.

Also, this is just absurd. I know Wentworth Hills also has some holes in RI so another course with this "problem".

Adjustment to Ma. Rules regarding carts, effective today:

MassGolf.org

"No golf carts allowed, except as outlined below:

The use of a motorized cart may be permitted for any individual with a disability who is seeking a reasonable accommodation to ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). A golfer who wants to use a cart should provide documentation or otherwise certify in writing to the golf course that he or she has a disability that requires the use of the cart.

Any carts used must be cleaned and sanitized after each use. The course operator may not use non-essential employees to handle the renting and/or cleaning of the carts. Only security and groundskeeping personnel are permitted on the premises.
"

So despite everything going on...is there a plan to have a New England gathering in 2020? Would love to be able to meet some new guys this year...I think @OITW usually organizes?

I am headed back to Sandy Burr this afternoon. 1:06 tee time. Called this morning as a single. Hopefully the wind continues to drop a bit.

My son played Acushnet River yesterday and said it is in good shape.

I got my 1st Post Corona lock don round in this morning with Art M up at Fall River Country Club. I had a great winter golfing and felt I was going to be shooting well once the season started before we were imprisoned. All of that good golf was wasted and I shot my worst round in along time. At one point I had a stretch of 3 holes where I shot a combined score of 22 (one of the holes was a par 3 and neither of the other 2 were par 5's). Yeah, it was that kind of day scoring wise! Still had a great time on a new to me course. I definitely wouldn't recommend walking FRCC but if you do, bring a billy goat or a mule for all of the steep hills!

Walked DW today, greens were punched 2-3 weeks ago, so not as smooth and fast as usual, but not bad.
A bit wet, and very windy, wind was swirling from NW to SW all day, and it seemed like Everytime there was an uphill climb, it was in our face.
Course Conditions weren't anywhere near as bad as my "Golf" game ...it was pathetic at best, and I'm a bit tired.
Glad to be back out there though.
It'll get better soon.

I love DW! One of the underrated courses in the area mostly due to being in Brockton and not named Thorny Lea. They've put some money into it and it shows. Not the toughest or longest course around but usually in great condition. Quirky set up as you play the 1st 7 holes then pass around the clubhouse, make the turn and play holes 8-18.

Sure was windy again today out there but not complaining, another decent round with an eagle tossed in there. :)

Lotsa new fixes I saw today, they keep working on it every year.
According to people I trust in the City 4-Ball, DW's greens are better than Thorney or BCC...I know from experience that they are better than BCC, but haven't played Thorney in years.
DW today is NOT the DW of 10 years ago, I was there for the last 30 at least, and I used to play elsewhere during summer heat.
Very overlooked these days.

Sandy Burr was hopping today. The starter said they had tee times going until 4. It started out cold around 54 but warmed up to 60 by the finish at 4. Unfortunately I can’t finish right now. I shot 80 with three doubles including doubling the final two. I am definitely a little tired by the end. I am in pretty good shape for an old guy but I don’t have golf bag carrying stamina just yet.

I was paired with a husband and wife and they quit at the turn. There was a single behind me whose two buddies had to go home to their wives who hooked up with me. Fortunately we played through a foursome of twenty somethings who had fallen probably three holes behind the group in front of them. We went through them on the 13th tee and playing as a twosome never caught the group in front of them. It took a shade under 4 hours for the full round but I would probably still be out there if we hadn’t gotten through them.

Interestingly enough the woman I played with is an infectious disease specialist who founded a company that is working on a vaccine for Covid 19 about to go into trial. She didn’t seem that worried about being on a golf course and felt that there is plenty of space to stay safe on the golf course. It can be a mixed bag showing up as a single which I do a lot but I find I meet a lot of interesting people. The single I joined up with is a gymnastic coach from Armenia who had competed at worlds and coached at the Olympics.
