New Scotty Cameron Studio Style Putters

Could have at least linked the ads and made it a legit sales pitch.

As a forever Scotty homer, I'm a bit underwhelmed by this design. Studio Style? Nah, shouldn't have used that name. Come up with something different. That being said, I will check them out to see & feel the difference between my Select models.

A few models out on the floor to demo, and despite them being pretty slick, and feeling buttery soft, I don’t know if they are quite enough to get me to jump into a wild new love affair. I liked the Squareback 2 alignment, but that window cut out gave me pause for some reason.

Surprisingly, it's the Newport that calls to me from this release (I'm really more of a 2 guy). But I imagine they will be able to be had lightly used for a decent discount soon. Especially the Squareback and Fastback.

That was the only other one I picked up, and while traditionally not a fan of the Newport (I prefer the sharper/more squared off look of the 2), this one was pretty good. Now, if they put that new insert in the Super Select Squareback 2 LD, here’s my money.

They are making a LD of the new Squareback. But it'll have that cutout.

That’s the one I demoed today. Rolled nice, just wasn’t quite the visual I was hoping for with that rear window.

So this what I am calling donut style putter is really catching on?

I am not sure I see the grand appeal to them, but then again I haven't seen on in person yet either.

That general design pushed more weight to the perimeter, which helps stabilize the putter head when hitting off center. I’ve always been a bit of a fan.

For sure, I understand the concept completely and in all likelihood would be swayed a bit more when I see it in person. I mean I loved the fang series of putters or style, and that is a bit out there in a sense.

Never owned a scotty either. That should change sometime in the future though.

I've wanted to try Cameron putters but they are always locked in a glass case LOL! Cant be bothered

Got to roll these the other day. The ‘donut’ style, as coined by @golfs_happy, didn’t feel all that great to me. I wonder if by the time you create the donut, and then further reduce the material in the wings by creating both the space and the screw hole needed for the alignment pieces, that something just gets a little off.

Flip side of that, however, was that the Catalina felt fantastic. It just hit that sweet spot of being soft yet dense.

I’m really looking forward to trying out the Catalina this weekend

Finally got a chance to try these. They look phenomenal. This is easily the softest feeling putter I have ever tried. You almost can’t tell you’re putting anything at all

Got to pickup and have a waggle of this beauty yesterday - just arrived in my local range/pro-shop. Standard and 38" counterbalanced / cruiser version.

No where to putt with it - you need to head to a specific demo area and I wasn't looking too hard at it. It is stunning, standard 34" felt great in the hands and I'd love to roll a few with it. That said I have only just picked up my Ai One milled 3T S and so not really in the market. But it certainly has my head turned.

Been hitting these at the store a lot. Lord knows I’ve jumped around on putters a ton. I find with most it just lacks the consistency, which I know is me. But like many of us I blame a putter. I do know that I need to go heavier to help with distance control. I’ve struggled with what folks call Counterbalanced because most of the times they just make the head heavier. I’ve fallen in love with putters for a bit, then they betray me (of course again it’s their fault). Briggs was an example. Loved the antidote day one, day two everything just came up way short.

I get a bit of the yips. Much like I’ve talked about in my short game, I fight a decel on longer putts … especially after someone warns me that the greens are fast. So when I saw the Squareback had a long design with the plumbers neck, I had to test it. And when I picked it up, you could feel the density of it. I like the color change in the back, it works well for alignment like with my S2S JB. But the handle is dense. And so when you start it moving forward, it’s much trickier to decel the club. It being an insert, but a milled one of metal, made it feel a little less harsh than some milled putters but still firm enough for distance with the weight.

But we shall see. After hitting it for the last 2 weeks, I took my ”hell bunker” award and put it towards the Scotty.

Rolled a few with this model at 34” and I was pleasantly surprised how much I liked the auditory feedback using chrome soft / tour balls. While I don’t normally prefer a sight line on my putters this alignment aid didn’t seem to bother me as much. Roll seemed to be consistent on roll out for the 10-15 putts I hit. Might have to see about purchasing one to go with my other Scotty

Got my Newport today and will get it to the course on Thursday for some on course testing.

Anyone notice JT’s scotty, no face milling.
I noticed that as well. I’ve seen it on a few putters that Scotty has posted but I don’t think that has ever been offered in the gallery to my knowledge. I think he did do something a couple of years ago where he offered up a handful of blanks to customers and they could customize it however they liked

Rolled a few putts with these and really enjoyed the feel off the face a lot compared to previous models sorta felt like their Phantom stuff in a smaller package.

This is an excellent comparison feel-wise. I really like the feedback of the Phantom line, I think it’s been fairly consistent through different iterations and the chain milling is pretty close, maybe a bit sharper on the Phantom.

The chain link insert is as soft as Odyssey’s White Hot insert. There’s very little sound at impact.
