New Scotty putters-look familiar?

Yup. And I’ll never understand the outrage at a style being mimicked by someone else, it’s always been the case in putters since the very beginning.
This part. It’s always happened and always will. I’m not sure why some get so upset at it.

There’s only so many shapes out there

This.

And just because it's a similar shape doesn't mean the feel is going to be the same or any given golfer will respond to it in the same way. Hell, a Special Select Newport 2 and a Super Select Newport 2 look indistinguishable from each other when looking down at address, but they both provide a different feel.

I NEED this insert in Newport

I mean I like the looks and so do a lot of others out there so can see why they went there.

Just saw pics of the Newport lineup. Confirmed in the bag for 2025

Scameron, coming in hot

Yes, he copies what's popular so his devotees will not feel left out of the latest and greatest.

And that's okay.

He is giving his market what they want...

It looks more Seattle’ish to me, without the plumbers neck. The second entrant spot is not a bad spot to be if you know what you’re doing.

Always cracks me up when people call Scotty a copycat. It feels like he’s the only one who ever gets criticism when 99% of putters on the market are copies from some previous design.

If you take issue with Scotty doing a jailbird and versa type putter, then you’ve gotta take issue with every putter manufacturer who has made an Anser and Anser 2 shape. Who made the first wingback mallet? Feel like it blew up with Scotty’s Futura line and now everyone has something comparable to Scotty’s 5 and 7 mallets.

Moral of the story in the golf world: if something is working, every manufacturer is going to experiment with it and see if it’s something they can utilize in their designs too. This isn’t new and certainly won’t be the last time someone releases a putter that looks like a putter that a different company has released in the past.

The only real question I have here is: are these new putters with the gap in the flange still going to be called Fastback and Squareback? Because those are essentially the shapes they’ve started from.

I had seen rumors they were going to change the naming convention

The entire new Studio Style lineup is on the Scotty website now. I'm sure THP will have the deets/ press release at some point soon.
