Because they're going to stick him on waviers in that scenario and get claimed or shunted to the minors until his contract is up at the end of the year.

Oh well, if that's the case it should work. I searched and couldn't find anything, which was why I asked. He has roughly 1 million left on his cap hit for the season. If they're going to do it, they'll need to do it quickly for it to fit. It's tight now.

carter to LA , glad the bromance is back together.... Carter is such a lazy skater i was hoping he'd be miserable in Columbus for a while longer. Oh well at least the Bars in LA will be making bank for years to come.

Columbus wins this one. a first rounder and Johnson for Carter. I just hope Johnson doesn't do what he did to the Hurricanes.

Carter and Richards back together again !!!! Who would of thought !!!!!! I think the Blue Jackets got the better end of the deal. Hawks are looking good tonight. Hossa hit the post with 15 seconds left in the period.

Oilers look pretty good tonight. Such a fast young talented team. Love the one game I see of there's every year.

Well i said this on my Twitter, over all both teams get better. But damn did Jackets win this deal in my opinion. They will get a decent looking first round pick, and a great D man. Just what the Jackets needed after Kris Russell not turning out the way they wanted..

Sad to say Carter to LA in my eyes is stupid, i had both Richards and Carter on my facebook and they had pictures 10-20 minutes before games they posted when they were at night-clubs till 5 am that pervious nights and with pornstars all over them = Cancer in my opinion.

And BOOM GO Canucks, beat the wings home record! weoo

Russell has worked out nicely for my Blues. He has been a very solid player in St. Louis.

And I agree with the Carter + Richards = Team Cancer. L.A. is exactly where these two douche canoes should be.

It's sad for LA though, because they had great character and on paper a pretty good team. I actually took them for my under-dog team on winning the cup this season. Now i look stupid, haha. They should have never let Ocar Moller walk to Sweden, worst mistake they made as a organization i think. I hope CLB Pick works out good for them and get them back on track :)

I don't know enough about the Kings or their organization to make an assessment of how they made out on this. But it seems, at least on paper, they should be a better team than they are. The West is so loaded this year, even if the Kings are able to slide back into the playoff picture, I don't see them going far.

If CBJ makes another deal like this one to get rid of Nash. Look out in a few years once they get some draft picks developed.

Why do the Leafs drag out the old timers or have some type of pre game commerative celebration before every saturday night game on hockey night in canada. Hate the leafs less than two days to find a goalie. HAHAHA just over 30 seconds and they are down by 1-0 good job puking all over your self after celebrating a stanley cup team.

Great game to watch on Hockey Night In Canada, philly and flames! Great shootout win for philly tonight. And i dont want wanyone ragging on Bryz tonight i thought he played solid, if thats the D and defence zone coverage he gets every night.. My soul might be wanting out too :/. If your gonna block a shot do it, otherwise let your goalie take it.

When you're sucking as a team, the only way to pull fans in is to celebrate the history of the Leafs. :banghead:

I love being able to troll my dad (a Devils fan). "Oh, I see the Devils just lost to a team the Penguins beat 8-1. Solid work."

Happy NHL trade deadline day! Usually one of my favorite days of the year.

I don't expect a ton of action from the Penguins today but I wouldn't be surprised to see them add another defender to the fold.

Not a ton of action in general yet.

Ottawa did get a potential steal in grabbing Ben Bishop though. Interested to see how he performs at an NHL level.

It'd suck to be a Habs fan. Kostitsyn has been invisible for them but, well, so has everyone else. Give him up for nothing.

I agree that they shouldn't have done that but I still think they're wqorst mistake was letting Simmons go in the Carter trade. He was the spark plug that the Kings desperately need to get the team going on the ice and bark at them off the ice for motivation. I see either a A or a C somewhere in his future.

If CBJ makes another deal like this one to get rid of Nash. Look out in a few years once they get some draft picks developed.
They're going to want more for Nash. Worse cap hit then Carter but he's not lazy. Put him with even a half decent center on a team that has someone else that can score and the goals are going to fly in.
I still think he gets traded in the offseason rather then now when the teams Nash has on a list have more time to be creative to get a deal done.

It'd suck to be a Habs fan. Kostitsyn has been invisible for them but, well, so has everyone else. Give him up for nothing.
Gautheir is a politician not a GM. Terrible choice and if Molson doesn't replace him in the off season, well...

I really figured he would be the centerpiece to a deal where the Blues nap a scorer at the deadline. Ottawa is getting a hell of a goalie and I think the Blues did him a solid by trading him to a place he can flourish and have an opportunity to be a starter.
