It's official! Here are the Winnipeg Jets new logos!

800_cp_winnipeg_jets_new_logo_110722.jpg

The one on the left is the main with the Two on the right being secondary logos. The main logo shows a sleek fighter jet pointing north over a red Maple Leaf, all inside a navy blue and grey circle and is based on the Royal Canadian Air Force. One secondary logo (top) features military-style wings over two hockey sticks and a maple leaf, with the team name around it. The other (bottom) has the team name in large stylized letters with a red maple leaf.

Personally, I LOVE the new look. I think it is very sleek and classy looking. Stylish and simple. Also love the tribute to the RCAF.

Other's thoughts and opinions?

I think the new Logos are some of the best in the league. Will be interesting to see how they actually look on the sweater and what color scheme they go with. I am digging the silver!

Can't wait to see the jerseys either! I really think a grey jersey might be nice with the logo. But then, it might look like a practice jersey?

I cannot wait till the old division rivalry is back! Go Flames!

The Jests uni's are nice. Much better looking than the Thrashers.

Oilers here. Grew up in Winnipeg going to many Jets games in the 80's and HATED the Oilers. Moved here to Edmonton 15 years ago, and within a couple of years I was mostly converted and am now diehard. Glad to see Winnipeg get a team back but they kinda messed up the legacy by not bringing back Phoenix and all the old team records.

Lots of change here this year, most of it big steps in the right direction:

MacIntyre out, Hordichuk in - Hordy at least can play 5-7 minutes a game, Mac was tougher but a total slug on the ice in terms of hockey skills.
J F Jacques out (along with Colin Fraser, Zach Stortini), Ben Eager in - most exciting signing so far and a HUUUUUGE upgrade on the 4th line/can fill time 3rd line
Cogliano out, Eric Belanger in - again, a massive upgrade if for no other reason than that we are going to win some D-zone faceoffs now LOL. Cogs well liked here, wicked fast, but hands of stone for the most part and should be a winger not a C. We wish him well and congratulate him on his new 3y/7.XM contract but if Tambellini had signed him for that there would have been a lynch mob descending on Rexall Place....at the very least Tambo would have been escorted to the edge of town and told to not come back, ever.
Ryan Smith is back baby - most beloved Oiler since Gretz. Local boy, solid citizen, does tons of charity work, autographs, time with kids, yada yada yada. Yup on the downside of his career for sure but should be good for 25 goals and a bigtime mentoring role for some of our young players as Smitty has work ethic out the wazoo.

We brought in a few other pieces, among them Cam Barker who is a massive question mark, and Andy Sutton who probably will be about a half time or slightly more player - Jason Strudwick replacement in essence. We have tons and tons of young talent, with the last 2 #1 overall picks plus plus plus plus. As it stands, we can field 3 scoring lines with speed that should be able to run circles around most other teams. Our D is still developing though, and, along with goaltending (see below), could prove our Achilles heel this year.

Our last remaining piece for the future is a goalie. Khabby has to go - there was talk the Blackhawks are interested, are they nuts??? - and, if he makes it through this year here will get bought out next summer. Dubnyk may or may not be ready for prime time, did play solidly for extended periods last year and had much superior numbers to Khabby. We have a couple of prospects in the system but nobody close, so Dubnyk has to emerge as a strong #1 (or Khabby has to have a big bounce-back year, which I find unlikely) if we are going to threaten to make the playoffs this year.

Like the new jets logos although the circle one looks likes a Canadian Captain America Shield.

Meh, theyre OK. Theyre clean and simple but nothing that really stands out or grabs your attention. I do like the part of the logo with the fighter jet and the maple leaf though.

The power button is hilariously awful. The winged sticks is solid, though it looks like it will just be a shoulder patch.

Surprised at the number of people who don't like the logo! Even on a Sportsnet poll, only 54% liked it. I guess to each his own!

Question! In your opinion, what is the best logo in NHL history?

I have always loved the Whalers logo. No idea why, but I just do!

I LOVE the whalers logo.. I also loved the North Stars and original Jets logos... I really don't see a good reason why they didn't bring it back.

If they were going to go with an AHL or ECHL logo why not just use the Moose? Makes no sense to use the name and not the logo.

Canucks, it will be interesting to see how they bounce back

I like the idea of the jet...just not crazy about the colors. Mostly cause they're whalers colors and that's the junior team's name here in Hampton Roads (low level jr's) and they get all the love and ice time. Which leaves us playing games at 11:30p and midnight. Anyway...that's why I don't like the colors... Though, if it is a tribute I guess it's okay.

That Moose logo is freaking sweet... I wish they had of taken it to the NHL. I would have purchased a jersey for sure.

Whalers colours? There is no green.

I am thinking it is to move on and not dwell on the past. Also, from a marketing standpoint, think of all the new jerseys they will sell. If they had stayed with the old, then jerseys sales would not be as high. I am glad they went new.

How is this an AHL/ECHL logo?

Pretty sure there is a possibility of keeping the Moose name in Newfoundland.

It's a little cartoonish for me when they could have just used the JETS logo considering they already used the name..

Cartoonish? Really? I don't see that at all. To each their own, I guess.

Compared to the classic Jets logo?

Yes. Still prefer the new and still don't think it looks cartoonish. Agree to disagree? lol

Works for me.

The Devils finally got rid of the albatross known as Brian Rolston and his 5.2 million dollars. They traded him to the Islanders for Trent Hunter. If Hunter doesnt get bought out or sent down they cleared $3,062,500 in cap space. If he is sent down or bought out that is over 5 mil in cap space, tacked on to the already 5.5 million dollars. Guess Mr. Parise will be sticking around for a long time.
