Nike Vapor Fly Pro Irons - THP Review Thread

Great write up on these. Check it out.

Great write up Dean. I personally really like the looks of the black/blue. Having gamed Nike Irons before I have no doubt they are a solid offering and if I was in the market I would definitely take a look. One thing I didn't notice, unless I missed it, cast or forged?

Nice review here Dean, I am personally a fan of the looks of the blue over the volt. I also really like what they did here with a "tweener" iron that looks plenty thin enough while also packing some forgiveness. Solid option in a crowded market it would appear...but they definitely set themselves apart with the look.

Really good review Dean! Such a good looking iron and if I was in the market I would probably give them a swing, but I don't really get along with lighter weight shafts well and would need something with a little more weight to it. Probably one of my favorite looking irons this year and it sounds like a nicely put together package.

Great review Dean!

I'm another that likes the look of the irons. The color combo has been around for as long as I can remember. The irons sound like they stand up against other irons in their class.

Great review Dean! Tons of details! It was very well written!! Love the top line of these irons!

they do, they are a very solid set. Personal choices though I'm not sure if I would take them over the 545, CF 16, or C200. All of a sudden that tweener iron market has grown with lots of good options. But they are fun to play and the performance is pretty good. Nice toe miss forgiveness, which I need.

Very nice write up Dean. I'm a fan of these and was interested in the sound transition. I noticed you touched on it in the article, but did you find the noise change at impact between the long and mid irons distracting/bothersome at all? Or was it something that after a few hits you noticed but you got used to?

In the end, I got used to it. But when pounding balls on the range the first couple of times out, it was noticeable. Now not nearly as noticeable as it was in the the '15 Vapor lineup, but it was still there. You know for me, I don't normally carry anything lower than a 6 iron these days, so it would be a non-issue if I were to purchase a set.

How is the face wear on these irons?

Great review Dean. I love the finish on these, very sleek profile as well

Nice writeup, Dean. Love the looks of these irons. Nice to see a few companies doing something a little different. Interesting shaft choice with this type of setup.

How is the face wear on these irons?

the face wear held up quite well, which I was pleasantly surprised with. However keep in mind the testing phase on these did not go on for several months. The sole wore a little more rapidly than the face did.

Hate may be too strong of a word to describe how I feel about the looks of these clubs...

But, it may not be too strong of a word also...

Great wright up, and looking at pics the 2 things that confuse me were shaft choice (along with everybody) and the black/blue combo with white numbers... otherwise I'll probably give these a try when time to upgrade

Nice review, Dean. Based on the info in the review, I think I'd like to hit these sometime. I actually like the looks but haven't seen them in person yet...I think it's time for a trip to TGW.

Any pictures of the wear on the black finish?

Funny this review should hit the home page today as I went to the range with the pro at our club and has these in the bag. He has X100x in them. I only hit the 4i but man I hit it well. Great ball flight, dead straight, and really liked the sound. There was definitely wear on the club face which he mentioned as well but they still look good in person.

Dean - another is a solid review.

I'm actually a fan of the looks of these. I don't mind a black finish on an iron (even with the wear), and I love the blue.

I know people mention the stock shaft, but that's the same shaft Callaway puts in the Apex, and there's a similar profile in the XR pros, which seem to be targeted at similar players from the few swings I took with them.

Good job Dean. I like the color of these and the overall look is appealing. I like the move to add this to the lineup from last year and chnage the look to try and standout and draw attention amongst all the different irons out there.

I've put in 72 holes with these, plus a few range sessions, and I love the way I'm hitting the ball with these irons. A little more distance than my Vapor Pro Combo's, which is great, but I'm also getting a bit more forgiveness too - which is exactly what I was looking for. I ordered 4-PW custom from Nike with stiff KBS Tour Shafts and they have been money so far- just took some getting used to at first as they were a tad longer than the VPC's. I also picked up a AW from a board member to complete the set.

I've been consistently around 225-235 off the tee with my 4 iron and I've been able to work the ball pretty well with both fades and draws.

The soles have shown some signs of wear - which sucks because I like to keep clubs as pristine as possible, but I can live with it given their performance. Nike was also pretty good about the VPC paint issues, so I have faith their customer service would come through if it became a pressing issue.

People definitely take notice of what's in the bag at the courses. A couple of guys asked where I got my "sweet black irons". All in all a thumbs up from me.
