Yep, Pacific Grove with #13 green in the foreground and #12 fairway in the background.
I love this course. The back 9 is as picturesque as there is. It's in shoddy shape but I would rather that and be able to play it for $50 or whatever it is than pristine and be $250 a round.

Pro-tip...call the course and book just the back nine for an early morning tee time. They let you play the back nine if you tee off within the first 90 minutes. I did that last time I was there and had it all to myself.

Great to know.

Playing here tomorrow with an early tee time for a $37 hot deal on golfnow- Castle Oaks

That's a fun course. I'm playing there next weekend with some co-workers.

Bring some small bills in case you need some balls or beverages at Mulligans along the 15th fairway.

I always support that hole and buy balls/drinks.

I have not been to Castle Oaks since maybe 2019 and that has grown a lot! Last time, there were no food or drink options it was just the recycled balls from what I remember.

Lots of food and drinks today and plenty of golf balks. The greens were rolling fast and we were the 2nd group out at 7:20am. 2 hour front 9 and the group in front let our twosome play through on the 10th hole. 1:15 back 9.

I birdied hole 5 the par5 dogleg left and hole 11 the par 3. These are 2 holes I have not birdied. Hole 1 if you get a par feels like a birdie lol. Its a tough opening hole for a par5. I shot 42 on both 9's.

Hole 11 is the par 3, correct? 1 is a par 5 and 10 is to the left of the water from 1 and is a par 4 from what I remember.

I played in a scramble there and won the long-drive on our second hole of the day, hole 7 (strange long-drive hole if you ask me). I was ON that day and we were using my drive on almost every hole. It would have been nice to see what I could have shot if I played my own ball all day.

yes I meant 11 not 10. :) 11 is the par 3. I edited my original post.

on hole 10 which always gives me problems I hit my best drive of the day and had a SW 100 yards to the green. I was hitting my mini driver really well yesterday. My misses were straight down the middle when I would be trying to draw the ball.

My birthday is January 3 and if the weather is decent I’m going to play Yocha that day, trying to tee it up between 9-10. If anyone wants in, give a shout.
Tentatively I can do this. Let me get through this weekend with family arriving for Christmas from out town and I’ll let you know if you can wait until Wednesday that works.

Edit: just got a tentative yes from wife count me in.

I grabbed a 4some at 9:40 for now. We will see how it goes and fills out.

Playing Spanos today can't wait. :). I haven't golfed for a few weeks.

We played there today with the 8:00 tee time. We always like mixing in Spanos with it’s big fairways, water holes and phenomenal greens.

PS You might be one of the few who knows the course I learned to play golf. Creekside in Modesto

I have played 100’s of rounds at Creekside and back in the day 15 years ago played free :). It’s much better than Dryden.

Creekside has always been nicer than Dryden, especially back in the day with the tallow plant across the river. Those were some stinky rounds for sure!

I think its easier to score at Creekside than at Dryden. And i like the front 9 much better than the back 9 at Creekside.

I agree on both comments.

I have so many great memories of Creekside golf course. Breaking 100, breaking 90 and finally breaking 80. When I first started golf, ego ruined my golf game because I swung 100% every time because I could hit the ball a long ways but only hit 20% of the fairways. Holes 6 & 7 were my nemesis holes. Holes 6 I was either OB or in the impossible to find a ball in the overgrown hilly grass on the right and hole 7 must have donated 100’s of balls left because I just couldn’t hit a fade or a straight ball.

This year after a 15 year break my buddies and I returned to play it once again and got a little revenge, I shot a 43/39. Was surprised to find out that the trees have started to mature. Picture below shows my nemesis hole #7. I usually hit a draw and it just doesn’t work for this hole. Picture below shows the narrow opening 😳IMG_3757.jpeg

I cannot hit a fade on command either, so that hole got me almost ever time. I started hitting a 5 or 6 iron off the tee to try to get it into the middle of the fairway, since it's not a long hole.
