Odyssey S2S Tri-Hot Putters

Gotta put for the 2nd round with my Rossie. Short putts were really solid. I was really struggling on longer putts but I attribute that to the greens being slower than I’ve ever seen at that course I’m guessing because of the snow and frozen temps lately. Definitely not the set up you want when trying to get the hang of a new putter. I will say things definitely started to warm up late. I think again with ZT you just have to make sure you aren’t doing too much and just let the putter do the work.

I’ve found that it takes an extremely poor effort to miss short ones with the Tri-Hot. I’ve played face balanced to putters with tons of toe hang and the Tri-Hot masks my deficiencies so much better on short putts.
No doubt. I’ve rolled short putts really well with the Rossie. Long putts is where I’m still homing things in. Which I think slow greens is the most adjustment which unfortunately today felt like putting on a fairway sometimes so that was really hard to get any kind of feel.

It’s interesting. I think I actually was making better long putts and missing short more at first. It normalized by the end of that first round, but it was a struggle the first few holes. I was missing inside the circle of friendship. Mostly because I was trying to do way too much. Once I got that settled and let the putter putt itself, things have gotten a lot better.

Isn’t it funny we realize how much you “fight” yourself on putting after switching to a ZT?

I don’t really thinking of it as fighting myself. It’s just a slightly different stroke thought. I like to think I can putt with just about anything, it just always takes a few holes to get reset if making a major style adjustment. I try to get those settled on the practice green but that didn’t really happen on Day 1.

I think that’s where I went wrong with the S2S. I gave up quick. 100% happy with my fitting, but I gave up on the S2S real quick. Wish I would’ve been more patient as you were.

Were you missing to a particular side?

You can let the significant others know that Spicoli approves.

As @Jman has mentioned if you take the hands out of it and let the putter do its thing, the ball is going to go on its line
I’m told I know nothing.

Yup. Thats basically it.
Makes no sense. I think you've forgotten more about this kind of stuff than I've known. I'm just glad you enjoy sharing that knowledge.

Was absolutely miserable out there today. But, I got out for a round on my bday weekend so I’m happy still.

Bright spot? The Rossie.

SO good. SO balanced. SO repeatable. SO easy.

Hell yea - happy for you and the Rossie.

Me too! Went out there this morning at 7am for 18. It was cold, foggy, and wet. Couldn’t hit the ball most of the morning and wished I was still in bed.

But thank you Rossie for consistently keeping me sane and in the game this morning. I told my playing partner that I was having a day, and fortunately this was my saving grace.

Same- I realized I was forward pressing ever so slightly and it was causing the face to close a little bit so everything was missing right my first round. Once corrected I was making a ton of putts.
Yep... I was used to pressing forward a little where it's not needed w/ this. I corrected it as well and as you said... putts started dropping.

Have you tried all 3 heads? What is your fav? I've rolled the JB & 7 (not a big Rossie guy).... Can't decide which I like better. I think the 7... maybe?
Jailbird has been my favorite head so far. Something about the bulk but not visually presenting as such works for me.

I love the JB head. Played one before this. I think part of the reason I went 7 was to have something a little different. I really like the look of the 7 head but hadn't played one before.

I’m going to get fitted (want to try out all models again) but that’s not a bad suggestion!
Did you have your other putter anything other than stock?

Interesting I was lagging the original S2S quite well it was the short ones that were killing me. Is the softer insert messing with the distance control for you?

What were you gaming previously and what has made it such a bright spot during the round?
