such an old, tired topic. now tasing on the other hand.....

Knowing the Phanatic (he's one of my favorite mascots BTW) he's already got some routine down making fun of the incident. Gotta love the Phanatic.

Well said!!!

I think some people who post on this board need to be tased once in a while. Might do them ( and the rest of us) some good!!!

I agree.

Now that right there is funny. I agree that I saw nothing wrong with it. Follow the rules and it would not have happened.

That's funny? Really?

they just need to fine people for doing things like this. in australia, you run out on the pitch and get caught it's a huge fine. the 25k fine will usually keep people in their seats.

This I can agree with. Even put them in jail and fine them. I have no problem harshly punishing these guys, however, a taser is excessive and unnecessary.

What would have been the proper course of action? Should they have 2 officers try and grab him by the arm and gently escort him off the field with a good scolding? Heaven forbid anything happens to the criminal. A taser was probably better than if a couple guys actually got a hold of him.

Proper course of action? Oh, I don't know. What have they been doing for the last half century w/ fans being unruly? You'd think that without tasers to shoot the "criminal" the cops never used to be able to arrest anyone or get them under control. Pffft. Right.

It was a skinny kid out there running from half a dozen adults. Again, how is the use of a taser justified? Six adults can't get that person under control without shooting electricity into them?

If that cop has a superior w/ any sense, he gets a good scolding for doing what he did.

I personally feel that the cop wanted to feel like a big shot. He knew he was in front of a ton of people and on T.V. He was going to use that taser man!

Feel like some kind of hero.

Remember Morganna the kissing bandit? She went after George Brett several times!

But I agree, the dude deserved to be tazed just for being out there. As MO pointed out, you never know what they are gonna do out there.

Tase her!

Tell that to the Royals coach. You break the rules and you deal with the consequences. If he stays in his seat like the rest of the fans, no shock occurs. Breaking the law should have painful consequences.

+1000 you can't take any more chances and give these guys any benefit of the doubt

Philly Justice was served! lol

I never said to take people who run onto the field lightly. It can be a serious deal.

However, you go by a case by case basis. Not every situation is the same.

The kid in this case shouldn't have been tased. He posed no threat. He was 150 soaking wet, and was simply running around for the "joy" of doing it.

How about one of the 5-6 security people lose a little weight, get in shape, and catch him to arrest him properly?

That pic w/ the cop pointing the taser at the kid is humorous to me. Here's a high school kid having some fun w/ a pissed off cop wanting to tase him running after him.

I mean seriously. It's like Elmer Fudd after Bugs Bunny.

When did I say there should be no consequences? I think I made it clear in that there SHOULD be consequences. And I'm not taking the problem of people running onto the field lightly, either.

What would a taser have done for the Royals coach when he was attacked by the two guys? Nothing. The attack went on for many seconds before anyone got there to help. And then it was physical. Obviously, I don't disagree w/ that.

And I highly doubt guys that would do that think twice about doing it because of the threat of being tased. They'll do it regardless.

yeah skinny kids can never be dangerous.

You should NEVER set stadium rules on a case by case basis...NEVER! That is how people get hurt and hurt bad.

haha. Oh my.

What was the kid doing? He was running around the stadium and acting like an idiot like dozens do every year at sporting events.

What threat did he pose? Where was he going to go?

The cop used a taser on the kid basically because he couldn't catch him - In an enclosed stadium surrounded by cops.

That's not a justified shooting of a taser on someone.

You should NEVER set stadium rules on a case by case basis...NEVER! That is how people get hurt and hurt bad.

Instead of doing it on a case by case basis they should all post a sign that says any fans entering the field of play will be tased, arrested and charged with trespassing.

I wasn't referring to rules. I was referring to how security officers handle it.

Case by case basis.

When you're dealing w/ people, it's not always black and white. That's the root problem here. The cop used it when I don't think he SHOULD have or NEEDED to.

If the person was a crazed maniac who is obviously on some kind of drug or something, yeah, tase the crap out of them.

But a skinny kid who obviously posed no threat? No.

Those two situations are a little different. No?

You are making it out like getting tazed causes permanent damage to someone. It happens daily with arrests all around the world. The kid knew the rules and decided to break them. He got taken down as he should. But as usual, believe anything you want.

Smallie, its the same song different dance with some people.

It's excessive, period. Whether it leaves permanent injuries is irrelevent. (actually, some departments won't use tasers because they have possibly attributed to deaths. But, that's another topic)

I agree he should have gotten taken down, but not in the manner that he did. Again, when did I say he shouldn't have been apprehended?

It's like the cop was thinking, "shoot, I can't catch this stinking kid. Ahhh screw it, I'll just tase him"

And hey, if words and/or thoughts are incorrectly attributed to me, as they were once again in this very thread, I'm going to have a little problem w/ that.

Sorry.

Stadiums out here announce before the game that anyone entering the field of play will be arrested and chrged with a crime. The idiot (the guy who ran on the field )called his dad and asked if he thought he should do it, inferring that he knew it was wrong but wanted to do it anyways. The kid was in the wrong, deal with the consequences!!

You noticed that too huh?

Answer the question. It was assumed I thought there should be no consequences.

I asked when did I say that?

Truth of the matter is that I said no such thing.

This happens almost everytime you post I tend to think the problem is with you and not the masses here, the words in question are the words you used so if you have a problem with that I could really care less.

That doesn't even make sense.

Ok let me phase it so you can understand it.

Shut up and quit angering people with just about every post you make!

Clear enough for you?

Okay everybody, back to baseball talk. Thanks.

My friend at Taylormade and I were talking about him today. He's not sold on him yet. I think the kid is the real deal.
