Official Rant of the Day

When all the commoners begged for ala carte cable channels, well here we are with 912 apps everything with a different fee.

Thanks.

I just had this discussion. It’s more expensive now….

Top looks like a peacock.
There's peacocking, with which I am familiar, and then there's that.

That is not peacock mention worthy.

Ooh. Directv is "warning" that the local CBS affiliate may not be available to me come Nov 30 at midnight? And that I "may" lose access to the local news, sports, and weather? And that I should notify Directv or whoever that I don't want to lose access?

Pfft. I don't care. I only watch it sometimes on Sunday to see the Panthers lose. Their coverage of NFL sucks anyway. And I've got an app on my phone for weather. Local sports don't interest me. And I know that CBS and its affiliates will renegotiate a new deal before the deadline... and my rates will go up regardless so... a nothing burger for me.

Caught Covid over Thanksgiving. This sucks. Haven't had a high temp in a long time. It just wears you down. Have to quarantine in home as best I can. Last thing I need is my family to catch it.

Covid absolutely sucks. I had it the second time two weeks ago and I'm still coughing and in a flu.

The first time was horrible and almost wrecked my lungs permanently, but luckily it wasn't that bad the second time.

Get better soon!

As an added kick to the balls (my FIL in hospital, see banter thread) the blower motor that we had replaced in January for our furnace has stopped running. They are coming out today between 1 and 5 but I suspect we'll be in need of a new furnace, which we absolutely cannot afford.

Back in the office after a week off, pull up some of my reports that I run on Mondays that others had to fill in on, only to find the formulas completely massacred. Sent out step by step how to instructions, that literally outline the only pieces you need to fill in and we can't get it right. So first 30 minutes of day spent readjusting and making corrections... Sigh

If only there was a way to bundle them ALL for one fee... Ugh.

I dread this day every year. It's been 5 years since my mother passed.

Well, it wasn't the blower motor, it was the control board. Currently have the gas log fire place going (first time using it since we moved in in 2007), an electric heater in our bedroom, the boys bedroom and lounge room.

They should have the new board tomorrow and about $800 later, we should have heat again. Better than $4500 for a new furnace right now.

Glad to hear that it’s somewhat reasonable. I wouldn’t have been surprised if the motor had gone bad again. I’m seeing so many repeat warranties on motors recently.

We'll need to replace it at some stage because it's old, but right now, I'll take band aiding it.

Glad it wasn’t the most expensive option for you 👊🏼

Same here. I was in the same room for 4 days straight. Got old quickly. I was lucky and didn't really feel too sick. Just a stuffy nose and a little cold.

Hopefully you feel better soon.

Trying to figure out what to say… or just let it go.

I think it's winding down. High temp for 3 days. Fever is coming down today. It sucks.

We are back hiring again which meant sitting through interviews today, and 4 more on Weds. It's gross and I dislike it so so so so so much

So so creepy—

Why do children only get sick late at night or the day before a trip?

Because the phrase "Kids are so convenient" doesnt exist.

Hope the kiddo feels better soon!

We need to schedule a follow up appointment to look into the MRI for your knee.

Sure, when?

Those are the earliest times. Let's hope it's a very minor tear and repairs itself with PT and wearing a brace.

I feel like navigating the next 4 days until I leave on Saturday is going to be treacherous.
-avoid sickness
-avoid hurting myself
-avoid having things happen to the wife and kids.

Wake up at 1am to a kid screaming in pain.
Get out of bed at 6 to sore ankles and a sore back. Damn near bit it going down the stairs yesterday.
Daughter is sneezing everywhere.

Need hazmat suit and bubble wrap.

I guess this appears to be the "I've got Covid" thread. Add another to the list. My second time with it. The first was Thanksgiving '21 and that was bad. But this time is definetly much worse for whatever reason. I was hoping that all the boosters would help mitigate the symptoms if I got it again but that doesn't seem to be the case. I can barely make it off the couch and to the bathroom without running out of breath.

I am so thankful that I quit smoking almost a year ago I can't imagine how bad off I'd be if I still had 'smoker's lungs'. I already feel like I'm about to give up the ghost by the time I get to the toilet.

I really hope I'm about to turn a corner and start feeling better. Being sick is the worst. I've got so many swing thoughts and things I need to work on now that we are in the offseason but haven't been able to touch a golf club. Priorities, am I right? :ROFLMAO:
