Ohio, Indiana & Surrounding Area chat thread

Know it might be tough Sunday but @That post and myself are going to MoG if anyone else is interested.

70s and golf both weekend days. This is as good as life gets in Ohio.

Great start as 2025 golf season officially started

Alright folks, family vacation has been switched on me from Kentucky to Ohio. Looks like we are staying just North of Dayton from July 3-9th. Anyone have a course recommendation in the area or free for a round? I know we have quite a few things on the schedule but it's completely flexible as to when. Both Cincinnati and Columbus are easily within reach, let me know!

The Cincy and Columbus guys have met at Jasper Hills a few times. It’s around that area. I’d be down for there or somewhere else down that way on the weekend

I’d second going back to Jasper

I would be up for that as I've never played that course

I'd do the 3 hour drive to Jasper.

The current Skyline Cup champion (me) is ready to put it on the line, who's challenging?

I know @Golfers Anonymous wants a crack, anyone else?

Course choice is mine, but it won't be way the way up here, more in the middle like Deer Ridge or Ashland.

Jasper sounds great again.

Also I’m in for Jasper when it happens

Deer Ridge is a gem

If we are setting up something for Deer Ridge or Ashland CC (or Brookside in Ashland?) I could make that with a week or so notice

I’d be in for Jasper Hills. F*** Deer Ridge

@Golfers Anonymous @That post are you good to come up this way to try for the cup?

I don't believe I've played Ashland so that might be the choice. @DiscipleofPenick can round out the 4 if there's just us.
Ashland is an old school course (narrow)

Some elevation. I don't think it's as hilly as Deer Ridge, but a few holes have a pretty good climb (#9 approach)

Hey look rain in the forecast for the next 5 days…..

Ashland was designed by Willie Park Jr in the 1920s. He designed several courses with Ross, so I think it's similar to those designs.

Deer Ridge is Brian Huntley, who is a local architect in Ohio. I've played a half dozen of his courses and they're all a blast. What I didn't like a much about Deer Ridge is the routing. I mean that there's like 3 or 4 gimmick holes in a row, and then 3-5 straightforward holes, notably that stretch on the back down in the flat.

Ross influence...makes sense

I played poorly on this course the last time I played there (similar to my experience on Ross courses too)

Your analysis is accurate.

Fun course, but very quirky.
