Ping and Tour Edge for me stand out.

Can't believe it took that many posts for Tour Edge.

Tour Edge is THE old man brand in my eyes.

Tour Edge until a couple months ago - h/t mentioning them in the AMA this morning...people shouldn't sleep on their new stuff.

PING for sure.
Tour Edge’s rebrand and new line of clubs look incredible.

Ping and Tour Edge are the 1st for some reason.

After moving and playing with significantly more older golfers. TEE woods/FWs and PXG (maybe due to veteran discounts?) are the only things that stick out as something I see more of now than I used to. Most of them just play older clubs from the major OEMs.

See I think college golf when i see Ping. 🤷🏼‍♂️
Guess around here I don't much. Generally Ping is all the older guys I play with. Heck some still have Eye2's in the bag.

Ping, Footjoy, Ashworth, Walter Hagen, Ben Hogan (hogan Golf), Wilson, Tour Edge (Champions Tour presence)

Tour Edge is my first thought, then probably Ping

I have a tough time thinking Tour Edge after seeing their most recent releases. Feels like they're moving in a great direction and that "old man" distinction doesn't fit anymore, for me at least.

This old man has Ping , Callaway, Cleveland and Cobra/Puma!

Check out their new lineup - first time I've ever looked at Tour Edge clubs that didn't immediately say "Bernhard Langer" to me.

Full ping set up (5-10yrs old) FILLED with Pinnacle's and Top flights. In the trunk, a "bag shag" brand shag bag

Ping, Tour Edge, XXIO,

I don't watch college golf. Why does that make you think of Ping?
all the carry bags are Ping Hoofer bags or a majority of them are

Ok but that is just a bag, are they playing PING clubs too?

Wilson I think fits that category and is what they are trying to fight against.

I don't know the numbers but I think a lot are or have some sort of contract with them

Oh for sure - I have long believed they are underrated, but they don't or didn't have any younger staffers. I have noticed a very distinct shift with their social media though. It reminds me a lot of Wilson. Suddenly they had really polished, hip, and artsy kind of videos and photos going out.

I asked Co-Pilot and got this

  • PING is a major equipment sponsor in college golf, providing clubs, bags, and accessories to many programs. However, no official source lists the exact percentage of programs with PING affiliation. [golfweek.u...atoday.com]
  • The PING American College Golf Guide is widely used by coaches and players, and it includes data on thousands of tournaments and programs, but it does not publish affiliation percentages

Estimated Penetration

  • Based on industry reports and recruiting guides, PING is widely represented but not universal:
    • Division I: Likely 70–80% of programs have some PING affiliation.
    • Division II & III: Estimated 40–50%.
    • NAIA & Junior Colleges: Around 20–30%.

That they do. A few years ago I tested out one of their drivers and it was everything not old man’ish…or maybe that was because I have an old man swing now.

I don't watch college golf. Why does that make you think of Ping?

PING sponsors a vast network of college golf programs, providing gear, clubs, and apparel to nearly 90 men's and women's teams, fostering brand loyalty and player development, with some elite programs like Oklahoma State receiving prototype testing and top-tier support, making PING a dominant force in collegiate golf bags and equipment. Their long-standing support includes outfitting teams, partnering with organizations like the AJGA, and even creating PING College Signing Day events. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

How PING Supports College Golf:
  • Team Sponsorships: PING supports 89 men's and women's teams, offering bags, headwear, apparel, and clubs, with 12 getting elite support.
  • Product Validation: Getting custom-fitted PING clubs in players' hands helps them perform better and validates PING's equipment.
  • Brand Loyalty: The goal is to build loyalty with future pros and influential golfers, turning college players into lifelong PING consumers.
  • Elite Programs: Oklahoma State University and Arizona State University test prototype products, while programs in the SEC and Big Ten are key partners. [1, 4, 6]
Key Initiatives:
  • PING College Golf Signing Day: Celebrates student-athletes committing to college golf.
  • PING Invitational: An AJGA event held at championship courses to showcase top junior talent. [2, 5]
Why PING is Dominant:
  • Most Used: PING has been the most carried golf bag at NCAA Championships for decades, per PING Golf Fans.
  • Long-Term Relationships: The connection started with Oklahoma State in 1976, building deep roots in college golf. [3, 4, 6]
